View Full Version : A winter 'outdoor' indoor grow

I know, a confusing thread title, but let me explain:jointsmile:

i found out today that my neighbour downstair, a fellow toking enthusiast, has offered up space in his large shed out back for me to grow in.

It has a large padlock that only he & I would have a key to , our landlords rarely use it (or even stop by for that matter), and even if they did i plan to using boxes and such to disguise my grow space. I would have to run a heavy duty exterior extension cord to it for power (its approx 20 ft from the rear of the house) as well as insulate my space against the dropping fall & winter temps.

I plan on a 4 ft x 4ft x 6ft grow space, using a large Rubbermaid container in a DWC system and a 4 x 2ft HO T5 fluoro bank.

Could anyone help me troubleshoot the heating/insulation issues, or recommend a good thread to read more on this?

My initial thoughts are foam or fibre glass insulation in the walls sealed with vapour barrier, and foam/polystyrene insulation under my reservoir/ grow area, and possibly a water heat similar to those used in tropical fish tanks but what other factors should i consider?

Any advice or ideas are greatly appreciated.
