Hello everyone! I recently acquired a space in which I am setting up my new garden. She's a 10'x4'x8' closet. I plan on making a 4'x2'x4' Cloning and Mother cabinet for in there and the rest is fair game. I plan on a DWC system with this garden, a plant each in their own bucket, airstone, etc.. I was planning for around 10 total.

I have a 1000w MH and HPS switchable for veg/flower. Will be mylaring the entire area of the walls, ceiling and floor. I have cut some good ventilation in there with 6" ductwork. I have a CO2 controller and regulator. I plan on using rockwool starter cubes in the prop tray and hydroton in the net pots of the DWC.

I was advised by a fellow that I should try 2 gallon buckets instead of 5 gallon. I was under the impression that 2 gallon would be too shallow, especially because I was considering a sativa heavy strain thanks to the high ceilings, last thing I want are my ladies to fall over. If I used 2 gallon the overall footprint would be smaller and allow for a couple additional ladies. Thoughts and Ideas on the 2 gallon buckets over the 5?

Whether I use 2 gallon or 5 gallon, what size net pots would you recommend and why? (I was thinking of using 6" but don't know if that would be too big or fall too deep in the bucket if I do use 2 gallon.)

Do you think the 1000w light would be too much and make the area too hot? I have 1x 6" ductline hooked up to the reflector powered by 1x 6" inline fan vented up and out.

(Originally I was considering an Ebb and Gro style flood and drain bucket system, but the 55 gallon res drum sounded pretty intimidating. Res changes would be near impossible as there's no immediate access to a drainage system and I can't pick up a 400+lbs drum and sling it up on my shoulder lol.)

on an off note, when a seed bank posts approx. yield g/m2 of a strain, is that the yield wet? or dried and cured?

Well I decided to finally start growing my meds. We're goin' with bag seed first, I'll pick a strain for a later trial. Germ'ed the seed 2 different ways. The Cigar Tube and the Wet Paper Towel in a Ziploc method. The Tube method popped taps faster than the Paper towel method for me. so from here they went into my Nursery Box. 4x2x4 box, kinda lazily put together, but she works good. Here are some pics of the lil guys (rather hopefully gals) and the box itself.

Two things i can say id change before u get going

1. Tin foil is not a good reflectant, painting the walls flat white is wayway better.

2. If u use tin foil use the NON shinny side(I actualy dont know why but i always hear people say that.

The Nursery Box is lit by 4x 4FT 54W T5 fluoro-strip light with 6500° Kelvin high output lamp. This box is intended for clone prop and to keep future mommy in a happy veg state. Some of these pictures are from the first few days, in the seed starter tray. Since then they have been transplanted into cups. Any advice is much appreciated.

Yep that's my Mylar. I got the 1 mil stuff. Very difficult to work with and I didn't want to spray adhesive it on because didn't want any long term harmful fumes for my babies.

From here I'm gonna kill my lil formula I was using to moisten the soil, and just use plain water, I don't wanna chem burn or nute lock my babies, just trying to get some early N in there to promote fems. I was using a very very dilute solution 2 drops/qt of some 8-8-8 fert in a spray bottle. So from here on out it's good ol' fashioned H2O in the spray. I have 11 plants going hopefully we'll get a good ratio. I only have room for 10 to flower so we'll have to see. I know there are alot of people that say no fert from the start but I'm doing a lil experimenting of my own. I can see the 2nd set of leaf starting hoping they pop themselves out quick. I'll try to get a nice close-up picture of that later today when I check on them.

Well here they are as promised. They came out pretty nice. Also the last one is a lil gal(hopfully) in the center cup that looks like classic nitrate burn? with a bit of overwater. Pure H2O until they have more leaf area to photosynth better and make use of the fert or maybe even until it's time to go into the DWC.:detective1:

I think I may have kept the lil' gals too close to the light so I moved them back down, hopefully they won't stretch? Here's a picture of the lighting, and the lil' gals moved down. Are the two baby leaves that sprout from the seed before the first true set develop supposed to yellow and die?
