I quit smoking for my job and I swear I've had a headache for damn near 2 full months now. EVERY day. It SUCKS! I live in a non medical state too.. I cant take it any more. this is bullshit. I know what will make my headaches go away but I cant use it or I'll get tested and fired.
P.S. Forgot to add that its ok for me to take opiates and work though. opiates that work 8 hours, that I can feel are throwing me off and endangering people. All because the Doc says so.. BULLSHIT.
God forbid I smoke a little at night to help my headaches. then if I crash 15 days later and get tested I get fired.

It will take time for your system to adjust to the new changes.

I feel sorry for ya. I have a friend who suffers from Migraines and cannabis is the only thing that seems to help him. He decided to ask his doctor for a Marinol prescription.
It helps somewhat but not like the real thing.
I am not sure but taking the legal version may mask your illegal use of the whole plant. Does any of the more knowledgeable members know if taking Marinol would cover your ass in a drug test?

If you have acid reflux or stomach ulcers. you can get a prescription for a "Proton inhibitor".
Proton inhibitors WILL test positive for THC!
The package insert advises you to bring your prescription with you to a drug test.
They will probably cancel and re-schedule the test.
That will give you some time to trade sanity for migranes again and flush your system.

Yes, the test doesn't discriminate between synthetic real THC,wouldn't hurt to mix them anyway, they don't give you enough in pill for anyway, dose is way too low or way to ineffective;
I too have migraines and often I have a bit of trouble when I am not medicating with mmj if my headached is a migraine on the run for a few months or allergy, mild. Seems the mmj keeps my allergy's in check also!

True.
But, many un-enlightened employers don't discriminate either.
There's a lot of ignorance out there.
Howzit PR?

sumatriptan succinates (or the triptan families) will totally eradicate your migraines, i dont like using these tablets, but when i get bad ones i do.
Recommend you get a prescription for them they are truly amazing.
Just, try not to take too many, I don't trust any pharmaceuticals at all nowadays.

Weeze, you saying, doesn't matter if you have Marinol-some employers will kick you anyway? That sucks! When I heard AT&T did hair testing for lifetime use-I thot that sucked. Even if you are clean for years-it tells on you!
Denial, I haven't tried any of the new things for migraines in over a decade, after trying so many years and too many pills, just quit and do what I can. I can't toke often enough to get rid of the migraine-but this new mmj I've been using, sure helps a great deal-just hard to get. I hate the side effects of the pills, but will see doc and try these new ones, nice to have the portability of a pill to carry with me.
I haven't had so many problems with migraine's until the past 2 years and it has been a bear-sometimes, just sick at my stomach until I do a 'pain test' and realize I have it-you learn to live with it or hibernate with'um. Guess, I might as well go get re-tested, etc. and see if the new stuff will help. Appreciate hearing it works for someone-I lost faith for traditional migraine treatment. Denial, you've encouraged me to, at least try again!
Just get sick of 'going' to the doc's all the time. The practice of medicine has changed so much in the past years that I am just fed up with going 10 times for one thing and you can confuse a lot of docs. Cause some can only handle one thing at a time in the 2 min. allowed to see you. I admit, my doc spent an hour with me last month and we never got as far as the migraine's. But, all the appts and specialist's from that appt is enough to give me migraine's!! Sure can tell from my post's when I really have a bad one. Using this site as a distraction from pain (people contact) sure lets me look back and see-the pain really effects me, even if it is typing, typos and grammar. lol! worse things could happen. Just hope my grammar doesn't change the essence of the message!
More freezing coming up and such pretty days. I have gotta move to the lower elevation. Might help my h/a's if I can start a gro outside, earlier in the year. Very short season in between hills here! I got some Snoop Dogg and it just takes a migraine away asap and with the regular use, not so severe. I'd just like it to go away-like right now. PR

"Weeze, you saying, doesn't matter if you have Marinol-some employers will kick you anyway? That sucks! "
That's what I'm sayin', brah!
I'm not at liberty to name names but they are one of the 10 largest integrated circuit mfgrs. in the US.;)
And, they don't discriminate between the guys that handle the toxics and the kids in the mail room.
It's a blanket bigotry born of ignorance.
On the other hand, I might personally drug test the hell out of the next surgeon that waves a scalpel at me.
I want my flight attendant ripped to the tits and grinnin'.:stoned:
I want both pilots stone cold sober and serious as a heart attack.
(I will allow them to be human, when I'm back safe on da ground)
Good luck with the new Migrane meds.
The ergot derivatives that Sandoz used to make gave some relief.
Least that's what I'm told.
Never had one myself.
They don't sound like fun.

Proton inhibitors WILL test positive for THC!
No they won't. No.
For a short time after Protonix or one of the other newer PPI's came out there was a problem but it was discovered quite quickly. No one even really failed because the nearly infallible system known as GC/MS discovered the problem with the immunoassay portion of the test. They have also fixed the problem with immunoassay.
I'm also pretty sure the package insert does not say to take your prescription with you to the drug test.

Thanks Weeze; I tried the Ergo's; Caffeine's, Beta Blockers, several anti-depressants and a few others. Might work now. I'll find out after I see a neurologist and get a new MRI (having more severe symptoms than in the past and a little incident during surgery 2 years ago. My head hasn't been the same since.
Something went wrong during surgery and my head hasn't been right. I had a "spinal" and do not remember anything for 18 hours. I should have been awake! Then several complications from the surgery. I couldn't 'think' much at all for a long time and wondered what they did to my brain and why I was out so damn long!
When I don't have a migraine-my head feels like it is in fog. Fortunately, my long term memory is fairly sharp. Just applying it to myself isn't. So tired of going to doc's etc. I have let it go for awhile to see if it will go away. Time to do something to improve my comprehension-I miss my brain.
Guess I should start a thread on post-op, long term memory problems. But, I'll need to read my records and they can't even remember, exactly what procedures and repairs he did during surgery. He needed tested! Frankly, he was kind of a jerk and I don't think they have a test for that.
When I was actively working, you can be assured, I was stone cold sober and clean! Healthy too!
Thanks for the advice friends! PR  much appreciation.

Aloha FBR,
I'm just going by the package insert here.
(Yes I read every word of that boring crap before I ingest any medication)
But, you are correct, it does not actually say to bring a prescription with you.
I misremembered.
'twere me, I'd bring the package info, though.
Because, right or wrong, it still says:
"This medication may affect the results of certain lab tests (e.g., false positive urine screen for tetrahydrocannabinol-THC). Make sure laboratory personnel and your doctors know you use this drug. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval."
It's a new prescription.
Is this information out of date?

Not your average run of the mill migrane then.
Dang! PR, I'm sorry to hear that.

Brother, I actually do empathize with that frustration.
After a motorcycle wreck I was chemically paralyzed and comatose for 6 weeks.
On Versed, (an amnesiac), for a quite a while too.
Having NO immediate memory is a nightmare that you can not easily describe to some one who's never been there.
Nor is waking up paralyzed. My head woke up before the paralytics wore off. I though I was done!
They would tell me that I was OK and the paralysis was induced and temporary, but I had NO I.M and would forget and be terrified 'til they told me again.
Could not work for the next 3 years (I was, a freelance troubleshooter before the accident.)
After 2 years with very little improvement they put me on permanent disability.
Here's the good news.
After 3 years it DID get better.
I still had to write down my passcodes and carry a checklist everywhere, but I held down a job.
After 5 years I was almost back to "normal".
Guess I should start a thread on post-op, long term memory problems. But, I'll need to read my records and they can't even remember, exactly what procedures and repairs he did during surgery. He needed tested! Frankly, he was kind of a jerk and I don't think they have a test for that.

For some jobs, you just have to be.
Thanks for the advice friends! PR  much appreciation.
You are more than welcome, my friend.

It's more like somewhere in between outdated information and the companies covering their asses (and making the FDA happy) since there was once a brief issue with it.
Telling a MRO you failed for THC while on a PPI won't work and probably wouldn't get you a retest either.

Mahalo FBR!
You obviously know what you're talkin' about.
I thought that some employers use the "drug store cheap test as a screen.
But, I didn't think it through.
Any indication at all and they spend the extra buck for the gas chromatagraph, yah?
Crap! Looks like abstinence is the only safe route
You may have saved the wife and a few friends a lot of hassle. (And me a lot of stink eye)
Now I gotta make a phone call or two before one any of my friends comes prancing into their test waving paper.
Thank you!
Next time I see something like this, I'll run it by you before I get all, "there's a loophole" happy.

I feel your pain bro.
Don't you wish that you could tell that doctor to stick those other pills, where it don't shine?
You need to quit your job and find something that best fits your lifestyle. I have big time head ache problems, I've had them my whole life, they are hereditary, so I have stayed away from places that do testing.
You can find work in the medical marijuana industry, check out this link (http://sites.google.com/site/420college/).

Legal Treatment:
Eat a lot of essential omega fatty acids, as your body turns them into endocannabinoids, which act like cannabinoids(THC) and would possibly reliece some of your problems. (Eg, reduce inflammation, widen blood vessels.) Best way to do that is ironically eat hemp seed oil. It has the best ratio of them.
So let me sum that up. Omega fatty acids turn into endocannaboids which reduces inflammation, and widens blood vessels, this means, you probably wont have a headache.
Just eat enough properly rationed out omega fatty acids.

FBR, always enjoy your sharing of all that knowledge!! Thanks, you roc!!
Weeze, thanks, you gave me some solid support, i needed and a bit of a lol at the same time!! I did have a concussion once for 2 yrs, and this isn't quite that bad=sometimes it just takes me a little longer to remember, but in a day or two some things will come up-recent things. I remember date etc. Guess, I will start a thread, bet we aren't the only ones.
Have to have been there. I don't feel the blocked thinking like with the concussion, just a foggy window and I am so glad I am not paralized, I think the fright would have lifted me to the lights for a blaze!!! :rastasmoke:
How is the headache now and what are you doing for it?? Sure hope it is better!! It is a bitch, life is tough enough! PR:rastasmoke:

Aloha, PR.
Much better, thanks.
It's been 15 years or so, and partially thanks to thousands of games of solitaire and wonderfully patient friends, the memory part is as good as us old farts get.
My problem was loss of immediate memory not head pain. And it was not caused by head trauma as far as I know.
Though I did trash a very expensive helmet.
I'm pretty sure it was a combination of the long coma, the drugs that induced and maintained the coma and some PTSD.
The wreck broke most of my ribs and popped a lung. Everytime I moved the sharp edges of the shattered ribs would cut something and it's hard to breath without an intact rib cage, yah?
That's why they had to immobilize me with the paralytics.
Well, that, and I kept trying to get up and leave the hospital.
Got about 3 steps and fell right over.
I just didn't believe that I was hurt that bad.
Shock and adrenaline masked a lot of the pain.
And while I sympathise with migrane sufferers, my head was the only part that didn't hurt.
I've never had a migrane, or even a bad headache, (rocks feel no pain), so I can't really know what you feel.
Been very lucky that way.:)
I can only imagine it from what has been described to me by my friend who suffers at least 4 migranes a year.
When I whine, it's about my joints.
When it gets real bad, I cry.
Not ashamed of that. And crying produces endorphins.
Worst side effect is a wet face.:D
When someone asks me what it's like to try to live without short term memory. I suggest the rent a movie called Memento.
A very odd flick but fascinating.
You can tell that the author has "been there".
Ironically, without a good memory, the movie would make no sense at all.
Please do start a thread.
I'll be happy to share the work-arounds that helped me cope.
Just might be useful to some folks.
Could even be entertaining if we stick some chuckles in it.:D
So, while I do not know exactly what you are feeling, I do give a rats ass.

It will take time for your system to adjust to the new changes.
What!..what changes? and its been 2 months, I think your thinking of something else.
I hear that my doc says he can give me opiates that make me sick and when I am off of them I am even sicker. But no weed no it is bad, Bullshit!. I live the same they give me prescription to go into the ER and get morphine drip if I want to but no weed, no that is not logical, MORONS!
I hope you feel better, and I am sorry to tell you their is no headaches that come from stooping the smoking of cannabis, I hear of allot of people who stop smoking and find they have problems that the herb was helping them cope with, and now that they stop smoking they have gone to other things that are legal but far more harmful. All because Cannabis is illegal.
