View Full Version : How to make your weed more sativa-like

If you want to turn your weed into something more sativa-like, microwave it for some time (2-3 minutes). Take intervals each 30 seconds, to avoid heating it too much. Doing it will decarboxilate your weed, which means all the THCA (a cannabinoid that hasnt any psychoactive effect) will be converted to THC (the one which causes the sativa effects), and so your weed will become more sativa-like.
It only wont work if your weed were of very high quality and be already completly cured (which makes this decarboxilation happen naturally). But if it were homegrown, mids (or lesser), or even good (but not the dankest) weed, the results will be noticeable.:rastasmoke:

Whoa, thats cool if it works. Hmm it would be an awkward conversation if my parents or my sister walked in the kitchen when I was doing that...lol

This seems interesting and why not, I'll try it out!
Basically if I use a gram of some typical beasters.
Do you just put it in the microwave? Or do you cover it up with saran wrap, or tinfoil?

Well... whatever you do... do not put tinfoil into the microwave! Ok its a nice thing to watch the small thunderstorm it causes into the microwave, but it can damage the microwave...
When i do it i just put the weed (NOT ground or it can catch fire) on a dish and microwave it. I do not wrap it, but wrapping wouldnt do any harm. And also it would help to disguise the smell.

you could do the same with your oven, its been covered before, and i hear the oven works better basically because it doesnt use radiation and heats in a different manner than using radiation to cause water molecules to vibrate resulting in heat.
but i personally havent tried it, i hadnt thought of it when i had the ability to try this one out myself someone was always at my house for the past 2 years and are now gone, and then i hadnt remembered the last few times i picked up to try decarbing the weed.
But i have a pretty good sized nugget of some dank left, they say that properly cured weed, such as the dankest of weeds, dont benefit because the THCA has naturally converted during curing which does it as well. But we shall see.

Wow Coelho.
I tried it out. I put a gram of "beasters" in the microwave. After I was done microwaving it in 30 second intervals, I compared the bud I used to the one that was microwaved. Noticeably drier and slightly more colored.
I proceeded to smoke the regular beasters first so I could do a control. Then I smoked the microwaved bud. The first thing I noticed it tasted better despite putting it in a microwave! I waited a few minutes and I felt the high shift. I'm not any higher than I would usually get off this bud, but I feel far more alert than normally because these beasters usually "stone" you. Of course there's the possibility this could be a placebo.
The real test is when my boys come over. I am not going to tell them and I will have them smoke the control, then the microwaved stuff. Then ask if they notice anything.

For one, I dont think u have ever used a microwave before becuz u cant put saran wrap or tin foil in a mircrowave!:wtf:the saran wrap will melt, and the tinfoil will cause electric shock and could fry ur microwave!:jointsmile:What planet are u from?

If this takes off that sleepy edge thats making me bored of weed this will be the greatest thing I have learned on cannabis.com in three years. However be warned if this does not work you will feel the full fury and dissapointment of Eli "The Great" Callaghan

Microwaving plastics can release the plasticizers, compounds that are added to a solution to begin the polymerization process. These include the Phenols, which are organic carbon ring molecules with an -OH group attached, and are known to be toxic (hazard rating 4 on a scale of 0-4), among others.
Always microwave in glass or ceramic containers.

Don't use a microwave that often. I didn't put tinfoil in a microwave. Just asking because for firecrackers you wrap tinfoil around it, but you put that in an oven.
Anyway, my friends confirmed there's definitely a difference with taste and the high. They noticed the high was more "sobering" than normal. After what I told them what I did, they thought it was pretty neat and were going to do it themselves if they ever needed to feel something different.

Well... the first time i read about this was at:
Robert A. Nelson: Hemp Husbandry ~ Cannabinoid Chemistry (Ch 6) (http://www.rexresearch.com/hhusb/hh6thc.htm)
My only contribution to this recipe was using a microwave to heat the weed, instead a water bath as suggested in the original site.
Since then there was a lot of threads about this decarboxilation method. In fact, i got most of my first reps (the darker green ones) when i first posted this method here, some years ago.
