Does anyone on here fast at any times? I have been meaning to do it just to release all toxin buildup in me from various habits. I've gone one day so far, and am aiming for 4-5 days. I don't think i will be toking during this period, which makes it all the more hard. It would probably ruin the detox, and if not by itself, i'd get hungry, and probably weak from lack of eating.
Just wondering if anyone else does anything similar. Some people even fast one day a week, although thats not as good for detoxing because you need like 5+ days straight.

i tend to fast more as i get broker, the last 3-4 days each pay period make me get pretty lean, i mean i have nothing, no food, no weed, all i eat is canned pasta and water.

this isnt really a choice thing, but i do notice that the next day i go to smoke that i will get noticeably higher, which i think it has to do with the body burning off the excess fat which contains the stored thc, too bad i dont get high when i burn fat. or do i?

That would be sweet, imagine that. As your body burns the fat for all its goods, the stored THC is kicked into effect. Id be stoned :)

Well... i think that smoking wouldnt ruin the detoxification process, as the THC and the other cannabinoids are not toxins... maybe the only problem would be the smoke, but if you vaporized it or smoked something purer like hash oil (as i do) i think it would be OK.
Last time I fasted during some 3 days... and smoked some sativa to decrease my hunger (i noticed that indicas gives munchies but sativas does not)... i noticed i got WAY higher and the high lasted much more... maybe it was because the THC wasnt being stored in the fats (as it usually is) because the fats were being burned, and so it remained in the bloodstream for longer...
Anyway, fasting is a very good thing to do, as it really purifies the body, mainly if one eats not healthy things... drinking a lot of water helps to wash away the toxins, and also eases a bit the hunger.
One thing i noticed is that usually the harder part of fasting is not the hunger itself, but the desire to eat... my hunger used to disappear the 2nd day, but the desire for eating was greatly increased... i would remember things i had eaten LONG ago and would crave them... even if my stomach were not hungry anymore... and that was hard... and it was what overcame me... at the 3rd day i gave up. Anyway, it was good while it lasted, i learned a lot during it.
Now i usually live doing a half-fast... like... i only eat one main meal each day, plus some minor things, like a fruit, for example, and i stay about 15 hours without eating, between the main meal of the day before and the first fruit of the next day... and i do not feel hungry during this time... it seems my body got used to fasting half of the day...
Also, I did read that eating less (caloric restriction) decreases the aging and improves the health, so its more a reason for doing it...

I do fast at times, though I do it for spiritual reasons, not for detoxification. I find that it helps me get my mind off of the physical realities of the world, eating being one of the most common physical experiences we have consistently throughout every day. Fasting helps me to just be still and focus on God.

I smoke (and sometimes drink) cannabis for spiritual reasons at times as well, so I find that the two go hand in hand.

Smoking and not eating for periods of time will cause your immune system to decline to dangerously low levels. You may and could contract something called Viral Menangius.

A friend of mine just contracted this disease. That's what the doctor told us happened.

Is that only with smoking, or does cannabis in generally lower your immune system? Usually if I "smoke" while fasting I actually vaporize, or I drink green dragon.

I want to do some kind of cleansing/detox however I am having a very difficult time getting my doctors on the same page.

I think its a good idea in general.

Well... im sure ive read somewhere (dont remember where... damn this stoners memory!) that cannabis (or some cannabinoid in special) actually improves the immune system.
If someone has some link from where this information could be, please tell us!

i will be glad to know your source-other than your doctor- cuz menangites is a bacterial disease which has nothing to do with pot in any way.

also different bodys work in very different ways, I for one am one of those people who smoke and can go without food without much trouble, right now its ramadhan, muslims month long fasting period, out of respect for people i live with I dont eat or drink anything (or i should say anything of considerable amount) from about 5 am to 8 pm and i have done this every year, back then i smoked though! and i was just fine... by no means that got me weaker in means of immune system.

i think as long as you get your DAILY needed material (vitamins, fiber, protein ,etc) sometime during that day, your immune system cant go weak due to not eating!

i actually lost about 70 pounds in 7 months due to the half fasting that coelho does. i would eat one main meal a day, and id be set for the rest of the day afterwards, and i actually found weed to be of help to that, because i used to eat when i was bored, well after smoking weed, i started to make new friends, spend more time doing activities, and it made me work harder because i knew i needed money in order to support the lifestyle i was wanting to live so i became a full time employee since college didnt work out for me the first run i had. And college for me was failing before i even started smoking so it wasnt the cause for that, it just exacerbated the problem to a tiny degree, as i was already mostly done by the time i had stopped.

Well I went 3 days just water. I didn't end up smoking, I was weak enough as is I couldnt take the risk. I wanted to go longer, 5-10 days, but next time I guess. I definitely felt the detoxification on the morning of the 4th day, today. My mouth tasted vile when i woke up, and even after brushing teeth and tongue. So I think I have proved to myself that it is a great detoxification method.

In my days of not eating I came up with quite a nice little cookbook, scouring recipes online at work. I only ate something small today to get my body back to norm, but tomorrow ill indulge in one of the recipes i found, Mystery diner recipes and wine selections from around the northern neck and chesapeake bay region (http://www.northernneck.com/md_recipes.asp#Penne), and smoke a nice bowl.
