If you grow, why and how did you start?

No one was born growing bud.

and I'm tight with my money! (on my low salary, I have to be! Love the job, but the pay sucks!) I started my seeds the day I got "legal". The second stop after the doctor's was to get lights! I found some ancient bag seeds (some 10-20 years old) in a storage box and sprouted them (4 survived). Been happily growing ever since!

Here is a similar thread for anyone to check out if they want.
http://boards.cannabis.com/basic-growing/160006-why-you-grow.html

For me it was a coincident. Stumbeled across a growers forum and got hooked. Read up for hours and hours all over the web for over a month. I mean like 4-5 hours a day just collecting information about every aspect of this. Downloaded movies etc etc and after a while I wanted to try out for myself.
Bought equipment, ordered seeds and started up. Basically ecause I wanted a new hobby and what a hobby it has become. :D
Interesting, challenging and it's pretty neat to have something noone living on this earth knows about except me.
I am not a big smoker and don't sell. Don't have any friends that smokes either so I am over producing badly but that is a nice problem hehe.

i was sick and tired off paying stupid money to scummy dealers who where just laceing my solid with crap or adding suger to the buds to make them look special. and also by doing so ive taken my business of that scummy dealer and actually started saving money.:rastasmoke:

I dont grow yet

i share pretty much most reasons given above by others.
but assuming if i was, these would be my reasons ordered by influence:

1. Cost of buying is just too much these days.
2. all sorts of risks (of doin buisness) with "drug dealers" and gangsta wannabes
3. Area runs out of bud exactly when u want it the most, i.e. right b4 a holiday
4. Being able to get actually what I want in contrast to whats available
5. I love mother nature and gardening. the willingness to live and grow, it always makes me wonder.
6. I generally like "home made" stuff lol

About 4 1/2 years ago,I bought an issue of HighTimes which I would buy every once in a while, mostly to look at the pictures,lol...This issue was a "HIGH TIMES GROW"issue that hit me like a bolt of lightning..."I can do this",I thought to myself,as I read an article about starting a grow...

For the next few months,I bought every cannabis mag I could get my hands on,reading them cover to cover, while getting up the nerve to order some seeds...My first seed order was Strawberry Cough from the Great Canadian Seedbank,(I don't think they're around anymore)...The seeds came,no prob and the rest is history...

Planted my first grow Aug.18,2004...I LOVE GROWIN!!!:420thought:

i dont grow, but here are the reasons i want to, which will ultimately end up happening within the next year, but here we go.

save money, constant supply, i need something structured in my life to give it some direction, im not good at growing things, but its worth a shot if i can be successful. to under cut prices in the area forcing better grade for less money, so when i do eventually have to buy it may be easier, and it could be fun, i plan on growing outside, i saw an idea that once you have a sprouted stable plant, that if you cut the bottom off a 5gal bucket and push that down into a swamp, not completely waterlogged, but mushy that you can grow off that, and around here there is plenty of swampy areas.

When I was a senior in HS an older guy we were partying with was an incredible grower. He was a landscaper and knew what he was doing. Within a year I had my second apt. (first didn't work out so great) and started my first seeds. Through the years I'd try indoor and outdoor growing, off and on, reading books and all. When I got old enough to slow down and start veggie gardening seriously I decided to update my knowledge base and get into it. Got most of my outdoor stuff stolen so I'm mostly indoor now.

have done a few small grows, reason being when i started was it's cheeper, but now i would say just for the enjoyment of growing such a beautiful plant and the buzz you get smoking your own is sooooooo satisfying.
