flyingimam

regarding consumption of marijuana in any form, smoking, digesting, ingesting, whatever!

Mine's been 1.5 years so far(current break), given that I've smoked for about 9 years (being 25 now) i think thats not all that bad, but will probably last another year n a half or 2, or at least i hope so:jointsmile:

Uhg!
Going on 3 months right now, first ever in 10 years! FUCK ME!
And I don't expect to get back in for at least oh, till the end of Jan., unless I happen across $400 or so sometime before then.
Then I am taking a ride about 90 miles west/nw, where I will pick up 8 strains @4g each for a nice healthy oz! But if that doesn't happen then it'll be Jan sometime when my first harvest comes in, then it will be AI and MK, and maybe if I am lucky, a small amount of GC.:)

A month. I remember because i didnt smoke for like 2 weeks before i went to the crazy house, so i passed a piss test  and 2-3 weeks afterwords. Now that i think about it... right after that i became a huge smoker, takeing only a 4 day break from weed since. Holy crap were those a terrible 4 days (vacation). Legalise it and never cause this problem for me, thanks.

Its been about 6 months total in the last 15 years that I have not had my cannabis.

The longest period of continuous time was about a month after my heart attack.

yeah, I've been a pretty consistent smoker, but now that I have commitments and things, I think it's back to weekends only, but at least it'll be that much sweeter once I finally light that next bowl. mmmm bowl...

Last year I went 7 1/2 months without a single toke, in hopes that it would finally drop my tolerance back to zero. Nope. My tolerance was maybe 50% down, and took all of 4 or 5 days to get back. That original magic is gone, unfortunately.

Now I've been 4 difficult months without any weed due to no hookups, but hopefully my friend is hooking me up with an ounce tonight! Which is the greatest news I've had in a long time, seeing as I've been majorly feeling like crap and could use the relaxation break.

I think the tolerance is partially a psychological factor as well as chemical.
U will not have 0% tolerance until u forget how being high is.

I have always wondered if there is a way to erase a certain memory from mind, that way u could watch same episode of family guy over and over again or get high over and over again and everytime it would be like its your first time!

Last year I went on vacation to the carribean with family for our daughter's wedding. I decided just to not have to deal with that, even though her brother copped some at the roadside bar (he got beat. <G>) Other than that, forty years ago I workd the summer at a kid's camp and didn't smoke for weeks at a time. Since then I've never gone long without smoke. No hassles, it's just always here.

I don't really think so; the high isn't just weaker, but very different. When I was a nubie to smoking, for about the first year, weed gave me the most powerfully psychadelic experience of my life that far surpassed any hallucinogen. I would get high, throw on some music, and fly off into a blissfull heaven of pyschadelia that was out of this world. Now, and after that 7 month break, it was still "yep, I'm high. Feels good". There's just no way that the difference between my original experience and my current experience is just a matter of mindstate; especially since I expected to have the original experience upon returning. Weed was a POWERFUL hallucinogen of insane pleasure for me back in the day.

true, i can agree according to my own experience. but what i meant was this very same thing, in our mind, we compare the high and thus we feel not as high. thats my point about psychological part.

I too used to be thrown off with some music and be in truly a separate place, but then i burned the damn fuse! lol

was this your first major break?

First of all, to the OP, im gonna ask what I think reefer rogue was trying to ask. What is the reason for your long break, if you don't mind. Just curious, is it military or something?

Secondly, I think the effects of getting high are altered by your state of health, and state of mind. Like, I think dopamine levels or whatever, your happiness levels effect your high. If someone is depressed, smoking won't do as much for them, just make it worse probably. Also if you have some kind of chronic illness or injury it may take your mind away from the effects.
I also have a theory of connection with libido in some way. I can't go into detail because I haven't pondered it much, but I think once that drive is lost, or constantly overused...your effects may lesson.

I certainly don't enjoy smoking as much as I used to because I get cramps in my stomach which kinda ruin the fun. Im working on detoxing my body right now in hopes of fixing this problem. Im on day 1 of 5+ days of fasting, food and marijuana. So hopefully in 5+ days, ill be able to come in here and say 5+ days. :)

2 days so far.

I have been dry the last two days.

It sucks but on Monday I get an 1/8th. I'm never dry either, this is a first in a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time.

But I guess there is one positive, my tolerance may shift a little and that first hit out of my bowl will be that much sweeter.

Me? in military? u must be jokin! lol however, i dont mind having stewie's type of world domination ideas!! :D:jointsmile:

no but seriously, I became a daily and heavy smoker for about 2 years from 04 to 06 and in that time as u might imagine, i kinda missed lots of other parts of my life due to this newly found obsessive behavior. long story short, i fell with the wrong crowd n stuff and kinda left school doin min wage job and living the young/single person happy/party life.

Then I got back to school in the same status and got suspended due to bad grades for 1 semester and that was what burst my bubble , i came to my senses, cut all the crappy people from me and just quited smoking, and swore to leave it that way until i get my BS degree with as many As as i can.
So I'm trying really hard to stay on my promise, and although an occasional smoke here or there wont hurt, i know my obsessed ass will be wanting more after getting in bed only once!

so i kicked it as a "habit" and would like to keep it that way until i can get a real life and job.

plus: due to what i did for 2 years and what i planned to do afterwards, I'm on a very limited budget right now provided by my family for basically gas and school and thats it! I dont even work, but I'm taking like 18 credits as a sophomore this semester and have had a steady flow of mainly As and some Bs as grades comin on my record since then. also I cant grow in my family's residence. so as u see, i'm better off not smoking now, until i get my degree find a job, find a secure way to beat my drug tests, and start making bigger $$$ so i can OWN a place of my own. long way to go and a rough one, but I'm already in it and must finish it! u can say i myself admitted myself to my family's rehab lol and accepted the terms to get thru this phase of my life!

50 more credits to take and I intend to do it as fast as I can, taking 21 credits next semester perhaps and getting as many mini-mesters and summer classes as possible to be done hopefully by jan 2010 or at latest in by summer 2010. get hired on the spot with $60k plus a year the first year and i will be set!

Thats cool man. I'll be starting college soon, and I don't plan on quitting, but cutting back a bit yes. College is definitely more important though. Its good to get your life settled, and then enjoy your time afterwards.

3 Weeks in the last 8 years of smoking. Didnt even think it was possible, luckily it was when i moved to Hawaii so i had a lot to occupy my time but i still never stopped thinking about and i was never able to piss a clean test. I was really lucky that the job i got let us decide when we went to take the test and never asked for my papers after that  I must say when i smoked for the first time in that long me and my girl didnt even know what to do with ourselves, made me feel like it was the first time id ever smoked. Be sure you dont need to be anywhere...

Wow, you've even got me beat. I took a 15 year break from weed. (Alcohol is of course more addictive, so my break from it lasted only 8 years. ;))

I quit all drugs after a bad trip had me hearing strange voices for about a year. I ran away to see the Dead in Miami in 1993. A guy poured some liquid on the back of my hand and said "Let that soak in, whatever you do DO NOT lick it." Well, as soon as he walked away I lapped it up. I was pretty much schizophrenic for a year. Quit all drugs after that.

Now it is just weed (and of course the glass of wine once in a while... under doctors orders of course). I'm guessing it was some LSD that messed me up, but I have no idea. I think the enormous dose along with the fact that I was so young (13 years old) and going through puberty and all the confusion that can go along with that just contributed to the "perfect storm" bad trip.

As for involuntary breaks, a year or so back there was a full two weeks when I couldn't find any pot at all, if I remember.

I know this is an old thread but i just now found it. going on 2 years now since I've had any bud. I quit to give my lungs a break and get my tolerance down and then lost all my connections, they all quit too or changed phone numbers. :( lately I've been jonesing bad but Oklahoma is not an easy place to score in, its not like SF where you can go down the park and look for the nug vendors. and growing is 2 years to life so that's out for me too right now. its starting to look like I'll be dry until January when I go to Colorado for the great American smoke out. on the bright side I should have zero tolerance so I'm expecting some good ole one hit wonder weed.

Had a few breaks, court mandated. The last time the courts wanted to give me a break was about 3 yrs ago. They wanted 1 yr probation, cash every month, submit to drug testing and pay for that as well. My lawyer told me I could do time instead. I got 9 days in solitary with no weed. Sure beat one year of probation and probation violations.

Had to quit cold for 60 days, while they worked on my heart and the resulting infections.

Always remember it was not that bad, boy afterward was on Maui to break the fast, had some great white shark that had me circling the parking lot for quite a spell

No MJ for 25 years! Grew up in Nor Calif and was daily smoker for 12 years prior to that. Picked up MedMJ after being bedridden for years, on May 8, 2013 after getting the okay from 2 of my treating physicians. Tried all the treatments, diagnosis' and meds... lost all hope. The day I smoked I could walk to the hallway, within 2 weeks I was dressing and in physical therapy, gained an appetite. Medically, my smoke date is May 8, 2012. I can now power walk, learning to run and am increasing in strength and stamina. Oh and learning to vape starting today January 5, 2014
