Yeah, those few people they do prosecute are just for show. It's a scare tactic. Truth is, there are millions of us and there's no possible way they could even put a dent in it. Converting media to computer files and exchanging those files will always be possible as long as computers are around. Pretty much, if you don't have a website called DOWNLOAD ILLEGAL FILES HERE, you don't stand much of a chance of ever getting caught. The RIAA and the government are fighting an uphill battle, are vastly outnumbered, and are going to have to give up their futile crusade for "intellectual property" at some point. Copyrights are a thing of the past with the free flow of information.

yea get on a p2p program and there's like maybe 1 in a 10000000000000 chance you'll ever get caught, literally......i'm mean if you can search thousands of key words in diffrent formats and get back 1000's or even 10000's of results for each one and almost every file belongs to a diffrent person....that gives you a basic idea how many people are on a p2p.....i've been using programs like kazza, ares, winmx and stuff for years now and have probably downloaded over a million files and i'm yet to even be scared to be caught....and no they aren't going to storm into your house for a bunch of songs.....i mean come on they got better things to do like take care of all the "hardened dangerous druggies"

i was never scared of it happening, its never gonna happen to me, i was just wondering how far you could go,i was thinkin there most likely to be after people who downloaded full albums ,cos then there burnt on to cds and sold on,maybe?

Well, if you turned it into a big commercial venture yeah. I know one kid who made some extra bucks some years ago downloading songs and burning customs CDs for people, back when CD burners were rare. But that wouldn't even work these days. If people wanted to obtain an album illegally, they could just as easily do it themselves. There's no way you could turn it into an operation big enough for the government to notice.

done that plenty too.....dude they are not going to prosecute anyone for it....if they even go after people for shyt like that it is like 99% of the time the programs creators and people who keep it running. out of the billlions who share files illegaly how many get arrested a year? 1? maybe 2?

I used to be an elitest little bittorent junkie, so I've got a ton of music, almost all of which are of full albums. ^.^ When I heard a song I liked, I just download the whole album at once in a .rar file. 51140 files over 4,533 folders. ^.^

I'm yet to be caught.

And don't even get me started on movies...

For those who like Kazaa download Kazaa Lite (its without the bullshit). I use Bearshare. Lots of files, security protection when installing. I happen to know a girl who lives in Florida that was searched. Her whole town was searched.

www.shareaza.com
It is open source. The code is on source forge and freely available to anybody, this makes it impossible to put spyware/adware/malware in it.
Download it from that site and that site only. Other places on the internet have distributed fake/modified versions or try to get you to pay for it.
If you're computer is fucked up from spyware:
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
Some antivirus software such as Trend Micro will scan for some adware/spyware as well, free online scan available here: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

due to my addiction to p2p software i've learned to correct my problems......sometimes it has to come down to a reformat....but that's easy...also spybot search and destroy is a good spyware remover.......and ccleaner can get rid of some other bad stuff plus make your computer faster if you don't know how to clean it properly...

I don't thing they are as concerned with people who download as they are with people who UPLOAD in bulk, who go out on the first day of release and buy a copy and immediately put it out on the web.Discretion is the word.

I got caught. Sorta. I was downloading a movie for my aunt (Rundown) and they caught me and sent an email to web provider.

Provider says if I'm caught again, they turn off the net for us.

So, I got smart and started using blocker programs etc etc.

I also hardly keep anything in My Shared Folder. But my ALL MULTIMEDIA (homemade) folder is 44.5 Gigs big. Downloaded albums, games, soundtracks, books, comics, movies, tv shows, and programs I've downloaded.

If they found me with all THAT stuff, I'd be so screwed.
