Backups for lights and pumps

Would it be beneficial to have backup lights even of low wattage just to keep a light schedule. Lights such as Emergency Back Up Light (http://www.espenergy.com/Emergency%20Lighting/Emergency_Lighting_Unit.htm)

Also, more importantly is there a backup system that can be made for a hydro recirculation pump so roots don't dry out.
