:jointsmile:I have an 8x4ft table, (flood and drain) . 3-600w hps, 127 pots, (or so). 115 gallon res. One part nutrient (dutchmaster) . lights have digital ballasts with glass shielded light. My clones will not be topped (using ww strain) and they will be under 18/6 during short term veg maybe 2-3wks. Flowering will be 12/12 for 9wks.

If anyone has done a large to moderate size S.O.G setup then please feel free to give advice on my future grow.

hey If you have any pics of your SOG set up I would love to see it. I am just about to put my first small SOG set up into flower and I haven't seen any pics of SOG before. So I am pretty much doing it all on what I think it should be like.

i have 8x8 veg room 1000w mh and a 8x10 bud room 1000whps. i have been tryn to get this sog thing down for awhile,i know it takes alot of clones and plants to get ya started,my big mistake in the beginning was not letting my plants get tall enough. so now i have the veg room full of all diff sizes,i would say 145,in another room i probly have that many clones gettin ready to root its alot of work . but well worth it.the guy that showed me his setup had 2 rooms 12 x20.i never seen anything like that in my life.he takes 20 plants out and 20 plant in and gets about a half pounds a week.,,,im still working on it. been over a year now btw,,, i think he had more clones than plants,,,,lol,,he is the one that gave me my first clone.white rhino.i use to suffer from depression.

I was thinking, since sog is all about speed - growing a plant from baby to finish as quickly as possible - wouldn't there be nutrients that are better suited to this than others? A "Sog Nutrient"?

Ideally you'd want something with some serious flowering juice, and then supplement that with some veg nutes early one. I was thinking that a potential perfect mix would be to start out right away with Connoisseur supplemented with some foliar-fed VHO for vegging power, and then as soon as enough vegging was done to switch over to some Bud Blood to speed the switch to flowering and then feed fast and hard with Big Bud, some Overdrive, and perhaps Carboload.

Has anyone tried that specifically with sog and have any advice? That sound like a good Sog Nutrient diet?

Sog-specific nutrients... interesting idea there iamgrowerman.

I like your logic, it makes good sense. Everything in my experience says those nutrients would work very well in a sog application. That'd be pretty perfectly tailored for it.

I've been wanting to switch to Sog myself and I already use Advanced Nutrients so I've got most of that stuff on hand. I've got a month of flowering left right now and a couple nice future mothers growing up. If I can get my stuff together to switch to Sog I'll give this a try and let you know how it goes.

It would make sense that Sog would need a different nutrient schedule, but your particular mix sounds ideally suited to it.

You can't grow flood and drain in promix. Try again.

Hint: Get a sack of hydroton... I run that, with canna nutes, and success.

im not tryn to jack thread, but i do have a few ? about hydroton,i just did some looking on it.my cousin gave me a 5gal bucket of stuff that sounds like it.its the size of a peanut and feels like lava rocks.i put them close to the bottom in the promix with 2 gal pots about 25 of them.is this what you are talking about.and if so.how much do ya use per pot.i think i put 2 handfulls per pot because i didt know how much to use. now i cant wait to see how they come out.boy i get so excited about growing.lol

Hydroton is pretty easy to identify if you've seen it before. It's a reddish brown on the outside, black on the inside (not hard to crack one open if you want to) and is really light for its size. It's like the rock version of popcorn.

I'm intrigued by this notion of SOG nutrients, though.

I'm not sure exactly how specialized the nutrient requirements would be in SOG but there are a few things that would benefit that style of growing more than others. I use Advanced Nutrients since it seems the most versatile to me, I wonder if I could tweak my mix somehow.
