I have ordered QF synthetic and was wondering if I find that my temp is too low at test time and I have diluted as an emergency backup, can I use my diluted urine to bring the sample temp up. I haven't had time to practice yet and my randoms could be at any time during the week. I've suffered through 6 randoms this year with 3 coming back diluted/retest. My retests are observed so I dont want have any more diluted results. I just found this forum and plan to follow the dilution sticky for future tests. Does rubbing the bottle of QF on your jeans or hands work well for increasing temp? I need to make it through one more year and my randoms are over. I smoke maybe ten times a month and have a pretty good idea of when to expect a test within a 2 week period but I know they will try catch me off guard eventually. By the way, hello everyone! p.s. These are tests done in house by company nurse and are sent from MN to Utah for some reason.

It is usually recommended not to add anything to the quickfix, but I have read of people passing by adding their own diluted urine, but this was usually to bring the urine over the line, not to heat it up. You could always practice with water and see if your own urine raises the temperature much.... (but i have my doubts). Be careful not to add dirty urine to the QF! It has been said that if you rub your finger on your jeans to make it hot and placing it on the temperature strip of your sample cup (that you are turning in at the lab) can raise the temperature enough (or cause the thermometer to read warmer) so not to cause suspicion with the technician.

Thank you suzieque. That trick could come in handy because I may just have to rely on body heat. There really is no prep time before test so I have to use a combination of regulating my use and guess work for timing the tests. Thanks again!

Just remember, things that are mentioned are this forum should be practiced before test time. The only reason I mentioned that about the friction on the finger made the temp strip warmer is because thats the only thing that reminded me of "Does rubbing the bottle of QF on your jeans or hands work well for increasing temp?". A cup of hot coffee would work wonders for heating up your quickfix in a pinch. :rastasmoke:

Gotcha suzieque. i had read a reference to rubbing on jeans and fingers but I wasn't sure what they meant. One thing I have going for me is that the nurse doesn't seem to enjoy handling specimens and I don't recall her paying much attention to the temp. strip. sux that I will have to have a bottle in my crotch for 12 hr shifts, but I only work 5 day shifts a month when they would test me. Thanx again.

If there's limited time to prepare, always keep a heat pad with you to heat the QF. Some the cheap dollar store ones seem to heat faster than the one that comes with QF. Yes rubbing your thumb on your jeans and pressing it against the temp strip works good in a pinch. Remember. Most people can't pee on command so there is nothing wrong with stalling to give the heat pad time to work.

thanx killer. All my tests have been taken within 4-5 hrs. after starting my shift. If I use a heat pad, what temp. is the QF at? I should be good if I come into work already heated up and by the time the heater quits working I doubt I will have the test that day anyway. This could really help my stress level:) Wait, I know the answer. PRACTICE :)

You have to watch the temps with a heat pad. They can get pretty hot. But the pad is ussually only good for an hour. I like to just keep the QF and pad in my pocket till I get the call for a random. Then activate the heat pad and give it about a half hour to work. I buy a bunch of the cheap heat pads at the dollar store.

My problem is that it is possible that I will be escorted immediately to the nurses office. I could use periodic nuking without the heat pad. Would that be better IYO?

I would keep it in your crotch. Grab an extra piece of cloth and sew a little pocket on the inside of your jeans where you can stash the QF and pad. When the call comes just squeeze the pad and activate it. Wait about a half hour and go in. If the temp is still too low just come back out and say you need to drink more water. They can't hurry you into peeing and your getting paid to sit there. So grab a book, relax and play there game. Rules usually allow them to keep you there for 3 hours and then they have to let you go and try another day. They can't fire you for not being able to pee. Actually they can but you can file with Labor and Industries and they can make them rehire hire you with back pay so you can walk in the next day and tell them you quit.lol
