I'm setting up my own little grow op for personal use. I'm going to build my own tent out of PVC piping and either reflective mylar or black and white poly, with adequate ventilation of course. I'll be growing 3-4 plants at a time until i get a good grasp on things. Then hopefully ill be setting up some sort of SOG system to harvest a small about every few weeks. Now for the questions. Will I need a carbon filter on a vegging tent if i have separate tents?

Also (the carbon filter on the flowering tent) is it better to suck the air out of the tent through the filter and out, or out of the tent and then through the filter?

Like this:
Tent->Filter->Fan->Outside Tent OR Tent->Fan->Filter->Outside Tent

Could i possible run two filter like this?
Tent->Filter->Fan->Filter->Outside Tent

Obviously i would need a fan with high enough cfm's to suck and push the air through the filter for the second option.

Just want to get some opinions thanks in advance.

I have a 600wt hps light with an air cooled hood so I bring the fresh air into the light and a fan sucking the the hot air from the light. When I notice the smell coming out of the flower room I place a home made carbon filter in there and its stops the smell coming out until when they really start kicking in around the 5th and 6th week and then I have a scubber outside the room along with a couple of other things a mister and a can of skunk(order remover). If you were to just place a same carbon scrubber in your veg room it should take care of it as long is the door is shut. On my filter I use a $25 inline fan bought at hardware stores.

Depending on the strain and the time you are planning to veg. Just be sure, no risk to take. Do you have a blower or an inline fan ?

I don't have anything yet. I'm in the research phase right now. I'm the kinda guy that does so much research before I ever get started its almost like I've already done it. lol.

That great, I've actually made the same thing and it's worth the time, I have 3 great females growing quite tall and a good bunch of clones from these. Are you planning to start from seeds or from clones ? Just make a list of what you need and shop around to see the prices. Follow the golden rule, never ever talk about it. Good luck on the grow !

I'm gonna start from seed then take the best female and clone her. Just going to start with bagseeds then purchase a nice strain later once i get the hang of it. Yes, my lips are sealed. Only person that knows about it is the wife. lol. She is actually part of the reason why we are starting to grow. She has really bad chronic pain in the neck and cannabis helps the pain alot. The doctors just want to load her up on pain killers. We both are tired of dealing with unreliable shady dealers who just end up ripping you of and all you get is crappy dope.

Good plan on cloning the best female, like you grow from seeds be sure to plant more. There 50% of chance that it will be a male.
If she can go see another doctor he may be willing to give you a medical cannabis card.

sadly we live in a state that doesn't have medical cannabis so we are on our own for now. hopefully someday in the future.

Based on my trails and errors I'd use the black and white poly it is so much more reflective than the other options, I use it every where, you can cut out pieces of it the same size as the pots to cover them and reflect light back to the foliage...

you can build yourself a very inexpensive hydro system with great results... spend your money where it's really needed the light, nutes, and air movement. All the info you need to build a great gro space is here at c-dot

What your needs are, will determine what the space will need.
