Ok new questions about reputation

Is gettin and giving reputation from users another form of this sites hierarchy? as in like 50 posts in you can give reputation points and stuff? I guess im a lil confused about that. Any info can help. Im a newb again. :P

Getting and giving rep points is just a bit of fun you are not obliged to give or receive points it has got nothing to do with hierarchy,someone with 10 points is as much an equal member of the forums as someone with 2000 squillion points. Some people like to receive points as it generally shows that someone appreciates your contribution to the site, but when all is said and done it really doesn't matter.
