hello everyone Im new to your site and would love to share and accept any help possible for my flouro grow i have going . AS of now i have 3 plants growing '' some bagseed'' but im currently germinating 5 santamaria crossed with lowrider .. should be popping anytime soon , i have had these plants growing for about 2 weeks now mabye a bit longer , seem to be doing well . im just a bit concerned about the pots , i went from a dixy cup to these , now future transplant doesnt seem as easy. i have 2 40l bags for fafard potting soil and some ''blackkow'' compost 0.5 0.5 0.5 . also some pearllight. sound like a good soil for my other 5 plants ? , does my setup look efficent? i will be adding another shoplight in the near future , Also would i be able to use a ph tester for the pool? no grow shops anywhere near me?

as i have always said. rock out with your c@ck out..
Use your best judgement. Its a seed. Mother nature will do the rest. And as a wise little stinky girl once said, the plant will tell you everything you need to know on how to make her happy, just need to be listening

Dont use the PH tester from the pool.
go to ACE and spend the 1.80 and get the soil tester.. not the best kit, but its a soil kit none the less.

me too on the virgin voyage.. the tester is easy, fill to line with dirt, open capsule and water and shake..

yea i was going to suggest not using such a big pot.. can lead to other issues.
i used flo and i made it.. longer you wait in VEG the better the yield.. I ved'd for 4 weeks and should of gone longer but i couldn't wait.

heres some pics of my grow.. not my thread, but threw in some pics..

Hey dirtdevil, I wanted to help with your question about LST.
I always start LST early... Like at a week & a half from seed.
Let me show you some pics of the last plant I LST'd.

This is a Thai Haze X Skunk #1 plant I grew a few months back that turned out to be male. The only reason I kept these pics is because of the impact LST had on it and how it responded. It was pretty impressive.
Keep in mind this plant was not topped or pruned in any way.

First pic is how it looked at 2 weeks from seed. Note the bent stem.

Second pic is how it looked 2 weeks later, the growth was explosive.

I basically just wanted to let you know you can begin influencing your plant whenever you want... You don't have to wait. :)
Best of luck with your grow. :rastasmoke:
Peace

looks great doobs, im going to give them a few more days and then fool with them . i heard the term pinch & bend what exzactly does that mean? ,

Pinching & bending (AKA Supercropping) is when you take a section of soft stem between 2 fingers, and give it a squeeze until you feel a "pop" in the stem. Then you give it a couple gentle bends back & forth... This causes soft weak stems to get stronger at the pinch points (you'll noticeably feel the hardness a few days after the pinch); it helps out farther down the road, when there are heavy buds that need to be supported :)
I do that too sometimes, and it definitely works.

Just watch the cotyledons (the little round leaves at the very bottom).
When they turn yellow, it's time to start giving reduced-strength nutes.
The babies look great! :D

i was going off this chart attached below .. i guess the new growth is just more leaves?

Yeah, that's what it looks like... Just new branches.
Those 2 little hair-like things on the stem right at each leaf node... Watch those. Your pre-flowers will emerge from behind those kinda. :)

Little FYI- while you can use the pH TESTER for a pool, never use the pH ADJUSTERS from the pool! Those will kill your plants. Since you don't actually put the pH indicator drops in the water you give the plants, you can use them fine.
Also, starting in smallish pots and going up a pot size every 4-6 weeks, you should not really have to worry too much about pH.
Start with the faffard stuff alone for the young plants, and add the manure and perlite to the mix for your first re-pot, at about 5 nodes.

Yea all im usuing for the seedlings is the fafard stuff . on the bigger plants im just using scotts topsoil and some pearllight , Im scared to give ''my babys'' any nutes let alone pool chems lol im dreading the day when i walk in the closet and see the lil leaves yellowing . i have a question about watering , im currently watering every 3 to 4 days . or when i cant feel to much dampness about an inch below the topsoil should i water until there is some runoff out the bottom of the pot . i hardley have any runoff to even test with the ph tester. heres a few pics , a bit of yellow on the tips ...??? ..oh also i could of sworn i read somewhere that u were waiting for pics of trichs , heres a few from my outdoor plant lastyear .

Start lifting the pots to feel how light they are. If the lightness surprises you, it's time to water.
Feed at half strenght starting at 5 nodes. Work up gradually, backing off if you see tip burn.
You don't have to water to runoff every time- only once in a while, and when you are checking soil pH or flushing.
You should read the first link in my siggy for a lot more useful info.

Your outdoor plants look great, nice work. Next year, you might give them a BIT more ferts mixed into the soil- like some bat guano and just a BIT of seabird guano- so that you see yellowing about 2-4 weeks later than you are seeing it now. But it ain't really broke, man

lol thanks stinky , yea i gave that plant no nutes , a bit of mg crap but i didnt use much . I try to stay away from ''MG'' ...

well there just showing there 6th node , and the cotyledons are yellowing so im going to give them 1/2 strength peters professional allpurpose plant food , The only thing i can get my hands on ATM . its 24-8-16 .. anyone ever use it? anyhow thanks for all the advice everyone

Peters is similarly chemmy - just a small step up, if that, from MG, but you will be starting out easy so no worries, just get going on finding an upgrade when you get a change.
