Hey all,

First time grower here I just got my flowering room set up, I am flowering under a 1000w HPS 12/12 cycle, when the HPS is off I have a green CFL party bulb that turns on.

I am wondering if its possible that the green bulb can be too bright and affect the photoperiod, it lights up the whole room! I just started flowering 2 days ago and don't wanna mess anything up.

Thanks,

Why do you even have the light going?

^^I think this exchange is a bit funny.
First off, you don't run your 'safe' light when the lights are off all the time, on a timer- you only use it when you HAVE to go in there in the dark, like a reservoir overflow. There are few growroom emergencies that require your IMMEDIATE attention like that!
Next, I have never personally seen a CFL party bulb- not to say they don't exist, but the only green party bulbs I've seen are standard incandescents with a green coating. These aren't safe. A CFL one, were it to exist, would probably not be safe either- the only true 'safe' light is a light source such as a TRUE green LED that emits NO wavelengths of light that the plant can detect. There are little hat-brim clip on lights that you can get at your hydro shop if they order through NGW. I've seen them. They're trick.

No offense Stinky but I've used an incandescent bulb for years(green). I wouldn't recommend the light to be on all the time, but I think it's important to view the size of the room with the wattage of the bulb. My space is somewhat large (180 sf) but the garden is only about 20% of that space. The bulb is the usual 40 watts and is above the hoods in the middle of the room. Works out to 4.5 wpsf. In a closet grow I can't say as I have no experience there but it works for me in my space. But if I need a little good light on something during the dark cycle I'll use LED flashlight or clip on light and I make it quick
