If this is against the rules, I apologize. Not supposed to be about alcohol.
I have been glancing at this story over the past few days:
College presidents get drinking age debate - Life - MSNBC.com (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26352179)
and it really makes me sick to my stomach. Not so much because of them wanting to lower the age... but the fact that, seemingly, at the drop of a hat they get a "discussion" about changing such a major law. While I applaud people for trying to rationalize a situation and find a logical solution, all I can think about are the people.... literally DYING... who pray for someone with some pull to REALLY stand up for them on the subject of medical Cannabis. Homes... dispensaries... LIVES are being tactically destroyed because PATIENTS are trying to relieve suffering. Meanwhile, the kids at Ivy league schools are tired of not being able to go to the kegger at Lambda Lambda during their freshman/sophomore year, so "they" discuss changing the law?? WTF??? Do they even read the statistics on alcohol related violence/rape/domestic abuse/motor vehicle accidents/death? It also seems that they are mainly concerned with how alcohol prohibition actually encourages abuse :wtf: Do they not believe that applies to Cannabis? I'm sure they are tired of having to repremand "good" students for recreationally enjoying a drink when they are underage. It's obvious they don't seem to care about those "good" students who enjoy Cannabis. It is just a major load of hypocrisy. They are saying things like "We know they are going to drink... we need to educate them on how to do so responsibly." :wtf::wtf::wtf:
Honestly, if someone is arrested for responsible Cannabis consumption or a dispensary raided on the same day that they lower the drinking age to 18.... I might have to flip the fu*k out!!!!
We, myself seriously included, need to step this activism the hell up.
I really can't take shit like this anymore......

preach bother! I hope this doesnt get deleted too because it relates to cannabis! I actually agree with lowering the age....but not for their reason. Im just saying that if you can force someone to pay taxes and enter the draft...good god give'um a drink. Or smoke!
I still to this day dont understand people logic on cannabis. so many think its the devil yet it has many great quality yet alcohol....very few!

Well... i also got infuriated when knew they are thinking about decreasing the age for drinking... DAMN IT!!!!!!
Why dont they think about things that would actually help the people, like legalizing the cannabis, or at least the medical use of it?
Well... i know why. When one is drunk one is dumb and contented and cant rebelate against the system... what is the opposite of what happens when one smokes and thinks by itself and realizes all the flaws of the system... but as the system needs that the people be submited and be happy about it, the system will provide them with subtances that do it, and forbid the use of substances that would put the persons against it. Clear and simple.
For anyone interested in a very heavy, logic, clear, rational and true criticism of the system, look at this link:
Unabomber's Manifesto (http://www.newshare.com/Newshare/Common/News/manifesto.html)
Its very long, but each line is very worth of reading!

Decreasing the drinking age is at least a step in the right direction towards the realization that people (even young people) can think for themselves and should be allowed to take care of themselves. I understand not wanting minors to get hurt while under the influence of alcohol, but the responsibility to take care of kids should be with parents, not the government.
The first step might be decreasing the drinking age, a step towards letting kid's and their parents take care of themselves. Hopefully one of the next steps down the road might be to apply the same exact logic to cannabis... and getting the government out of the business of keeping people from protecting us from ourselves.
Hell, the next step should be to have *no* minimum drinking age. Just like countries where cannabis is legal have lower rates of use then America, countries where there is no minimum drinking age tend to have lower rates of abuse of alcohol as well. Citizens do a better job of taking care of themselves then the government.

I'm going to move this to current events, where it makes a bit more sense in terms of the site rules.
My take on it is this: If the drinking age were to be lowered, I would hope that the SOLE reason would be to encourage parents to interact more with their children as tehy are learning to asses risks associated with alcohol consumption. Which, IMVHO, is pretty laughable- the DRVING age is 16 and we STILL see young people doing completely irresponsible things with vehicles that their parents could probably have sttered them away from, HAD THEY BEEN PAYING ATTENTION.
However, I feel this is not the real reason behind that, and, like you folks, I'm simply dumbstruck at teh hypocrisy evident here where it concerns various prohibitions.

I agree with alot of these issues and ideas, but lets face it america is not in a position to have the parents suddenly start raising their kids, the state and the TV have been doing that for decades.
Thats a bit of a joke but its also true. The average citizen in america is too busy with all their bullshit to really take an active part in their childrens lives, some do to be sure, but far too many don't.
If we were to solve the inadequate parenting issue we would solve alot of other problems at the same time.
It is infuriating though that some ivy league kids can just get a debate about lowering the drinking age simply because they want it, and when cannabis supportes scream themselves horse for a debate forum on med cannabis they are virtualy ignored.
Or worse, laughed off as idiot stoners. :(

They preach, eat less processed stuff! Alcohol is very processed. Stick to a natural plant!
I admit, where I live, parents are too involved with their kids and have too many fights over them! Then think their kid is so perfect, it would never do such a thing, cause the kid knows better!!
I did not drink responsibly, when I was young! It wasn't viewed like it is today either! I doubt kids will ever be that responsible.
I view this as the colleges not wanting to waste their time trying to stop what kids will do anyway! pr :rastasmoke:
