Hey everyone! First off, let me say that this board has more information than I could have ever fathomed and I am happy now I can be a part of it.
Anyways, I am interested in growing indoors, very interested :) I just moved into my new place; my friend owns the house and a few of us are living in it. My particular room has a great closet located near a window which I think is perfect for a grow room.
Recap: Not worried about electricity bills, not worried about odor or anyone finding out, just worried about supplying myself with enough medecine :rastasmoke:
Closet dimensions: 4.8' (58") wide x 2.3' (28") deep x 7.5' (90") tall = ~85 cu. ft.
I am interested in running a hydro setup of some sort, and I can't really make up my mind. I plan on covering the entire inside of the closet with mylar tomorrow after gutting out some shelves. I can't decide whether I want to build some DWC bubble buckets, buy an EBB&Flow system, or venture into some aeroponic fogger system.
I am also considering venturing into an LED system instead of a HPS / HD setup because I do enjoy being on the cutting edge.
My proposition: I have up to $2K to blow and certainly have the time and dedication required; seeing all the images and setups makes me drool (I am sure this will be a LONG term hobby). What should I get for good yields, fast grow times, and every desirable quality of homegrown bud?
There is a hydroponics store nearby that I have yet to visit, but for the most part I would like to get this setup and running ~1-2 weeks. I also have a hookup for clones, but am tantalized by all the seed banks and wouldn't mind buying a few seeds of desirable strains for my particular setup.
I will post pictures and make a journal once I get everything I need! Thanks everyone!

All right...well, first off. It's really nice to hear that you are really interested and have the resources to construct a decent set up.
First things first, I'm sure any expert here will tell you not to get too advanced for your first grow. You have to learn how to grow before you learn how to make it better
Second, you musn't overlook the whole ventillation issue with a closet grow, that's really important!
As far as lights...Find Rhizome's noob guide and hit up the electrical section, might even want to check up on the ventillation section too! That'll give you all the information you'll need as to how much lighting you're going to need.
Mylar is good, do that, it will be helpful
If you are intent on DWC I advise that you read up a lot on the construction and maintanance of the type of bucket you're looking for. You are going to want to know your grow set up forwards, backwards, front, back, and inside out before you begin.
As far as big yields, and fast grow times...you're going to want to research some big yielding plant strains online, generally though, the more yield, the longer the time it takes.
Another addition to larger buds is the nute situation, do a lot of research on your nutrients as well before you begin, that's super important.
You've got a lot of reading to do. Good Luck
and 600grm / m2 means it should average 600 grams per meter squared of the plant. So basically, the more square meters you veg the plant to, the more bud you'll have, but that's just common sense

WELCOME TO THE CLUB;...lol first off save your money n forget bout the ebbnflow... it's good but not GREAT...lol i would stick with 5 gallon pots... with 5 saucers underneath to catch your extra water.... then get a 1000 hps... hortilux has 145,000 lumens... get a hood with a 6 inh vent.... go to home depot and get inline ducting for washer machines they are the flexible venting you want... then a fan... a 6 inch Vortex fan which is about 440 cfm ( cubic feet per minute) then get sum SOIL-LESS SOIL.... and sum good nutrients i stick wid Advanced nutrients they are a lil expensive but they are the only company that is pharmasudicle grade.... they have a nice two part grow and bloom called sensi grow a&b and BlOOM a&b then sum additives like bIg bUD,carbo-load, barracade, scorpian juice, b-52, all of your benificial bacteria , and you will have some HIGH POTENT medicine....

Yeah, make sure you buy "pharmasudicle grade" nutes... lol that's the biggest load of crap I've seen posted all week. AN=Overpriced and overhyped cashcropper system that is only popular because they spend so much $$$ on sticking their stickers on everything that doesn't run away, including OTHER COMPANIES' PRODUCTS, on the TV show Weeds. haha. IF you're serious about growing medicine, and it matters to you what you put into it, look into an organic or organic-based nute system. CannaBio, PureBlend, etc.
But all that aside... you've got a much bigger problem:
Good luck growing in a shared home with a bunch of other people... someone is gonna smell it. Someone is gonna say something drunk at a party sometime. Not a good scene.

Nothing wrong with the AN stuff per se- I've said it before, if the major goal of the grow is weight, AN's a pretty good choice.
And factored over cost per gallon applied, prices right in line with most of the other majors- I think it's actually cheaper at this point to run the AN 3-part than the GH. Bennies/PGR's are pricey as all hell, but they go for a while ( 'cept the Voodoo, but that works well enough that most folks don't blink once they've tried it.)
I actually use the AN bennies with just about everything.
Certainly they've chosen to market primarily to the commercial market, but that's really just a biz decision, and not a bad one- there are folks out there who mix by the 1000 gallon, and there's consistant money and a lot of brand loyalty there. Those guys honestly don't care what it costs to fill the rez- it's at best a trivial cost of doing biz. They're spending as much per cycle on trim labor.
Keep in mind that, statistically, cash croppers are males in their twenties. A bikini team is a pretty good way to get that markets attention.

My two other roommates are in support and gave me their word they wouldn't mention anything about it. If the closet is upstairs and I duct it, there is no way people downstairs at a party would be able to tell, right? I'm fine with my room smellling, in fact I bet I enjoy it haha.
