This is my second attempt and seems to be the same problem only its happening sooner than last time. Brown tips curled upwards then the leaves eventually die...I dont see how this could be happening. My water maybe? Is it possible that my tap is too hard causing burn..?...Im almost ready to give up..

ph of 8???

Yikes...try to lower that my friend, 6.0 - 6.5 maybe

thought i put the actual pH but didn't. my tap water is 8.0 but the res. is at 5.9..

you're probably just adding nutes too soon...try bottled water if you're not even adding nutes maybe...idk, that might be a bad idea

haha thanks man

isnt this supposed to be easy...everyone makes it look that way. this has been nothing but a cockstretch for me.

if this doesn't work, would you consider soil with some bagseed?

With CFL maybe...just super low budget just to see if you can grow one, not trying to optimize anything?

Gotta keep positive man!

Keep stretching that cock, because that's not the worst thing that you can see in hydro... The leaves closest to the media don't always look all that purdy...
You're getting ready to crank up your nute strength, no? Were those clones or seed?
Pics of whole plant are helpful. How's the newer growth?

You've got some really important data missing in the troubleshoot form... check your res temp, and monitor the res pH. That doesn't look like an issue though. Res temp may be a bit high... ?

just a quick Q stinky,

Is it cool to use tested and filtered bottled water? I mean...idk why or why not, just a quick Q like I said

Like bottled drinking water? No. Too much sodium.
Bottled distilled water? Yes, but add calmag.

I agree with Stinkster....go with RO or distilled.....200ppm may well be what's causing you issues.

And did you presoak the living shit out of your hydroton to stabilize the ph?

...And did you presoak the living shit out of your hydroton to stabilize the ph?

ehhh..kind of. i got impatient and said 'thats good enough'

i should really use distilled, i know. at next res. change im going to. if i give them a good flush would it be safe to switch to GH nutes? im through with FF and its gooey sludge mess.

you know, its crossed my mind. i've seen some first timers raise some nice green from soil. ive also been doing some reading on recirculating dwc.

anyone: do you need a control and and res. for recirculating?

im guessing no. just about every recirc dwc i've seen is setup for auto top-off. id rather do it all by hand. so that would just require a res w/ pump...riight?

by the sound of things the tap water is the problem check the ppm of the tap water first as this will be added onto your 500ppm half strength solution so u could have like 800/900 ppm without realising. also if you check the ppm and ph of your dwc bucket daily you should eleveate the problem.

REMEMBER if you adjust the ph of the dwc bucket the ph will slowly level out over a period of time so dont add ph up/down untill you know the soloution is stable hope this helps.
(strains can change the ph when veging or flowering keep an eye on this)

As for your nutes i have recently changed from biobizz to b-a-c, and the difference in my plant after one day was amazing. im currently using soil because i havent the time or money at the moment to spend on a hydro setup, and also its easy to mess up so you have to be on it from day one till finish.(alot of hard work for alot of bud makes up for it).
