I'm hoping to get a little input on if i'm doing anything right or wrong :)

My 2 bagseed's are 5 days old in jiffy seed starter mix and perlite in 4 1/2" pots with 4 23watt CFL's on 18/6 they have seemed to have stopped growing and the stems are a dark color, I have been giving them 1 oz of water a day(water sat for a few days and is about ph7

looks good, i don't think the perlite is neccesary in this stage but I think they will manage, make sure the light is 2-3 inches from the tops.

Cool thnx, lights are 2" away, I'm not sure about the watering tho. Is it about to get out of the growth stump?

1 ounce of water a day??? like a fluid ounce??? that like, 2 tablespoons. theres yer problem. and as long as the pots' not to big for the plant, you can go ahead and saturate the soil. the roots grow like 3 times as fast as the foliage grows in the seedling stage, and you got plenty of perilite in there to keep from overwatering. also, an overall dry medium will contribute to more males.

the first one looks ready to grow!

maybe less heat/ more humidity would help too.

water is life:thumbsup:

Lower your ph a bit too, seven is a tad high. try getting your run off from the bottom of the pot to read 6 - 6.5

cool thankx, i've been really worrii'ed about overwatering. I'm getting a humidity meter this weekend and and keeping the temp in the mid 80's until i finish my grow box. I'll water them more when I get off work.

I watered my plants yesterday until water came out the bottom holes but didn't see much diffrence this morning. I'm hoping to see some improvement this afternoon. (will post pics)

glad to see your plants are happy. here are some things you can do to improve your female/male ratio. all these factors affect sex during the seedling-veg stage.

*higher nitrogen level and lower potassium level (fot the first two weeks) for more females (fmf,)
*low temps (72-77 is fine) fmf
*higher humidty (50%-70% is good) fmf
*low growing medium moisture INCREASES MALES
*fewer daylight hours (14-18. havent tried this one yet. i stick with 18) fmf
and any enviromental stress will give you more males.

and im just trying to help. i get almost a 100% female ratio going by these guidelines, so hopefully it will work for you too.:hippy::hippy:

Thaks for that info, my temps are unfortunatly a little warm (mid 80's)but i'm building a grow box to control that 4'x30"x20" CFL's and just ordered from HTGSupply a Suncourt 4" Inline Duct Fan 80cfm and a GrowBright Pure Flow 4 Jr. Carbon Filter. I'll probly finish the box today and put a temporary fan in it.

Ok Hopefully someone can gimme advice fairly soon, I just noticed a few roots sticking out the bottom holes in my pots. I assume its about time to transplant but i'm not sure. I WAS going to use Foxfarm ocean forest but I think it might be too soon for a soil with nutes(9 days) so should I get bigger pots and fill it with the jiffy seed starting mix for just hold out for a while and transplant when i was going to put the good soil in there? (btw the grow store is closed and I dunno if i have the cash for the foxfarm right now)

the second plant has a little brown tip on the right, I'm not sure what it is just yet, but I hope I didn't overwater it (watered a bit too much yesterday when I had a hangover :(

They are about 12 days old now
