Not sure if I can even mention alcohol let alone talk about it here, but last night I was pulled over and cited with an extreme DUI, obviously I have serious questions about that, but please let me know if I can or can't talk about that on these forums.

But also, I had a pipe on me, that i put under my driver's seat before I was pulled over. I should have just kept it in my pocket, but as the officer finished with me he allowed me to get items from my car, of course watching me, so I didn't reach back to grab it.

My car was impounded, and I'm curious if they are allowed to search it, and if so what can they do if they find it?

You really can't talk about the DUI portion that has to do with alcohol. You can always ask general questions about driving while impaired and asking questions about being impaired or the marijuan aspects of your case.

Police are allowed to search a vehicle that is being towed following arrest. They often times use this excuse to get around the warrant requirement. It basically allows them to search and inventory a vehicle prior to towing to prevent the owner from accusing the police of stealing from them. Anything found, if the cops dot their I's and cross their T's and follow procedure basic procedure established for towing following arrest, is fair game.

If you were arrested and booked, chances are better that you leave the pipe in the car. Introducing drugs into a jail or prison is a felony while possession of paraphernalia on your person or car is usually a misdeamnor. I'm guessing bring the pipe into jail with you would probably be a felony. They should search you when booking you but if they don't find the pipe and you bring it in that would seem to be a more serious offense than possessing it outside the jail.

Hmm.

Well for now, I did not get arrested, not sure about the specific terminology of an arrest, but they let me find a ride home. Any insight as to whether I can or should have someone, like my Dad, visit the impound lot to attempt to retrieve it, and whether or not they will watch as stuff is retrieved?

When my car got towed by the cops, I picked it up at the lot of the company who towed it.
All I had to do was go to the police station, get a release, bring the release to the tow company, pay the surcharge ($200 for me) guy handed me my keys, and I left

this might not be your case depending on your area

but even if you went to an impound lot, I dont really think they would be watching you :\

Yeah monday I'd go to the police and get the release form and get your car back. This is why if I'm taking a little smoke with me I take it in joint form. I can then stick them through my ebrake boot if I'm getting pulled over.
