I know I've stumbled across this, but was wondering if anyone on here does it to give them a lil extra bud. Any info from people with experience would be awesome.

personally i wouldnt waste my time on this. if you want buds grow female plants, maybe keep some pollen from the male plant and make some seeds for backups/keeping of genetics

It's easy to state the obvious. Why would I want males, it still doesn't answer the question of is it possible. Has it been done by anyone here? Why sacrifice Bud if you have the room. I'm not too lazy to pick seeds.........

I'm amazed by the ability for people to jump to answer of Why? instead of just answering a question.

Waits to be hated on :wtf:

It happens a lot on here. People want to try things a little differently then the long time growers, and the long time growers tell them it's a stupid idea and to just do it like everyone else already is. Even though no one ever chimes in with some actual experience on the subject.

I've never heard of anyone herming males. It may not work to great hough. In theory, I would think it would be exactly opposite of herming a female. So you would get mostly male flowers and very small buds. Then maybe all the seed would be male instead of female. Just a guess on my part, but you could always give it a try if you want to experiment.

Thanks JaySin,

Assuming any of my 8 are males, I'll keep you updated on it.

I'm not a snob to bud !

That's why I'm doing this to get the most out of it.
Can't believe people would rather kill bud producing plants, because they are too lazy to pick the seeds out to get more bud instead of less (If the space is available)

Besides who needs conformity............... :stoned:

I have had a plant go hermie and it pollenated the other plants. The seeds are a huge pain in the ass to pick out. Even the plants that were never hermie.

The only reason I didn't chop the plants and start new was because I wanted the femmed seeds. Now my next few "practice" grows will be on plants that will probably all be female and I wont have to worry about them as much as I would if I planted my good seeds.

I'd like to see you at least try it to see what results you get. Then to see what the seeds produce from those plants. So if you're into experimenting, give it a try. I wouldn't expect much bud out of it though.

Some where near the front half of any basic grow how to, it'll state that if a female plant is pollinated up to 75% of possible bud/THC will go to seed production. That's why it's a waste of time. That and the seeds from the hermied male will produce male plants.

If you're that hard up for cannabis seeds to feed birds or whatever, go for it.

i wasnt attacking you. i was just trying to say its not worth the time or money to maybe get 2 or 3 grams off 1 plant that is 95% seed. if you want buds grow female plants. the time and cost of ferts will be less benneficial to you. but feel free to use up your room for experiments and post some pics of it. id like to see them

I have hermed males. Not intentionally; they were crappy individuals out of a Nirvana White Rhino seed pack. The amount of female sex parts on the plant does not justify the pollen contamination in the room.
Males DO NOT actually put on bud mass when they herm. You MIGHT get a gram or 2 of ridiculous seedy (if the pollination 'took') harsh crap, off the WHOLE plant, after picking through and painstakingly looking for the calyxes, loaded with pollen, whcih you don't want to smoke, ESPECIALLY if you have known allergies to pollen.
Not worth it.

Informative Thank You.

Have you actually waited it out and let bud mass form? Or is this theory based off experience? I'd like to see it through to the end for myself. Just wondering if anyone has had the patience to wait it out and try.

For me growing is a scientific process with an artistic curve ball thrown in there.
I guess I'm a bit of a dork, but I enjoy every new experience with each type of plant I grow.

Thanks for your Input. Greatly Appreciated. (Was waiting for it!)

I never let it go to harvest, because they were not from a source of stress taht I could identify, and I therefore didn't want ANYTHING to do with them, lol. But while they were still living, it was apparent that the mass of female parts compared to the mass of male parts was VERY VERY low.

If you see it to the end, definitely post up pics at different stages, and also just for hahas if any seeds form see if they are even viable... and if you REALLY want to get into it, I'd be fascinated to see M:F ratios. I'm predicting 2/3 males but that's just my stinky logic kicking in... lol

Def keep you updated! I'm excited to see what happens myself!

Who knows what will happen in my lil freak show grow box...........! (Que evil laugh) Muhahahahhahahahahha............. erm yeah.
