I don't currently live in a medical cannabis state, but I'm considering moving to one after I get out of law school. I guess the most popular one is California, but this question is for all those living in medical cannabis states.

Does your illness have to have a specific degree of severity before your doctor can recommend or prescribe the cannabis?

I ask this because I don't have any "serious" diseases. I want to know if I could legally take cannabis in these states for nothing more serious then the types of things I take advil or tylenol every once in a while for... like a sore back, sprained muscle, etc. Is there a state where I could get cannabis legally for those sorts of things?

Please list your state (or county of it is dependent on that) along with your answer. Thank you!

Any state on the west coast is pretty liberal about who can get MMJ. Pain management is the most common but they are probably going to want to read doctor reports and xrays about the severity. But I think it really varies depending on the doctor you go see. Here in Washington there aren't very many doctors who do the authorizations.

Hmmm.... in that case, I guess living in a Med. Marijuana state would do me no good after all. I'd have to lie about back pain or something, which would just be stupid.
