I just got my 5x fem lowryder x ak47 seeds, and im wondering this... What Fertalizers should i get? Im a n00b at growing, and this is my first grow.

I only have Wal-Mart and Lowes to choose my nutes/fert from.

Can someone tell me a good fert for veg/flower?

I have some 14-14-14 now, but im not sure if its right...

Also is there a certain type of soil i need?

Thanks y'all

First and foremost... congrats on your new upcoming adventure

BUT...

Don't get ahead of yourself. You just got your seeds, so you won't need nutrients for awhile. How are you growing? Indoor? Outdoor? Soil? Hydro? etc. etc. etc....

Chew on this:
http://boards.cannabis.com/basic-growing/127522-simple-noob-instructions-growin-da-dankness.html

and drink this:
Grow FAQs - Cannabis.com Forums Message Boards - Medical Marijuana, Cannabis Club, Dispensary, News (http://boards.cannabis.com/grow-faqs/)

If ALL you have (like you can't order anything online, or plan a trip out of town) is Wally World and Lo's... then you do have a few options for nutrients. Wait a minute... you ordered seeds online right? You've got plenty of time so just relax, roll up , and get your research on. I know it's almost cliche because a lot of people recommend it, but I'm having great results with the Fox Farm trio. Ordered online, shipped fast, and not too expensive... relatively ;)

Seedlings only need a light starter soil for a bit... then you can plop them into an actual soil mix during transplant. Feeding won't start until 4-5 nodes. But refer to Stinky's Simple nOObs Guide that I linked upstairs ^^^!

But yeah... check those threads out :stoned:

10-5-5 for grow, 5-10-10 for bloom, or something along those lines. Just make sure the ratio is simmilar to that. Its hard to find working nutes at home depot they like to sell 10-10-10 which will work for veg but for bloom its not that good. I never found a good bloom fert anywhere except my new found hydro shop. Good luck.

mate as the other guy said you're getting way ahead of yourself, you have just bought seeds worry about the nutes when you are well into veg and flowering.

I use Ionic soil grow and Ionic soil bloom for growing.

Miracle grow soil probably isn't the best thing to use, especially not on it's own you want to make a soil mix, you could use miracle grow and it will work fine but it's very chemmy.

Try a mix at least of about 1/3 perlite 2/3 good quality potting compost, you should always use soil lightners like perlite, vermiculite or horticultural silver sand.

I use `1/4 perlite (maybe a little more) 1/4 silver sand 1/4 manure and 1/4 top soil.

Hope this helped

npk
nitrogen-phosphorous-potassium
nitrogen for veg
phosphorous for flower
potassium for both
a value thats the same for example 5-5-5- is an all purpose blend
a value like 3-1-2 or something with nitrogen is higher value its for veg
a value like 1-3-2 or something with phosphorous is higher value, its for flower
you need to pick your own nutes you feel comfortable with and are available near you.
superthrive is not a nute, its basically vitamins. use 1 drop per gallon during stressed times

we cant tell you everything to do, you have to read read read, check links in sig for all the xtra reading info you need
look up foxfarms products in google, they have good soil and ferts

Likely would have been a good idea to get this process going a little sooner, like when you were first ordering the ladies.

I'd go with either the Fox Farms or Botanicare products. You'll need different nutes for veg than you use for flower. Both of these companies offer a 'complete' system, to take you from seedling to harvest. (get the formula for growing in soil )

With Fox Farms nutes, it's a three part system. (Grow nutes- Micronutes - Bloom nutes) They come in three separate bottles. Not sure about the Botanicare system, but likely the same. Superthrive is a quasi-micronute, but do not overuse it. One drop per gallon means one drop per gallon. Some folks don't like the stuff, but I use it all the time for my vegging plants. (100% Fox Farms stuff for flowering)

Get a good soil, preferably without added nutrients, making sure it has perlite in it. For a newcomer, using stuff like Miracle Grow potting soil can get tricky. If you are forced to use the MG, always keep in mind that your plants are not going to need additional ferts for around a month, till the nutes that came in the soil are depleted enough to start your nutrient regimine.

The nutes you have (14-14-14) are ok as a temporary solution as a vegging nute, but you'll want 'tighter' control over your nutes. (what and how much goes in) Whatever the recommended dilution it says to use on your 14-14-14 nute, cut in half, then in half again. (young clones and seedlings are very sensitive to overfrtilization) Will give you a good starting point . If no results, wait till soil dries-out a bit, and increase the dosage. (up to a half-strength dilution)

Continue to read and absorb all you can, and grab some notebook paper and create a little grow diary. write down what you did, when you did it, and what the results were. Helps bunches at the begining when you can't remember what you did and when.
Do you have all of the equipment and room(s) set-up yet?

Ditch the dirt man, get a bucket a netpot a air stone and some Gh flora bloom and micro, mix 5 ml micro and 10 ml bloom per gallon at Ph 5.6-5.9 and keep the bucket topped off with fresh Tap water, that mix is what I use and you have seen my pics. you will never get a yield in dirt even close to that of the bubbler.Shaggy

So all he needs to change is everything?
Likely not his choice to go hydro, and it's subjective with regards to the results.
Personally, I much prefer the taste of soil grown cannabis, and wouldn't like having to dick with all that equipment, the assorted chemicals, immobility...
For me, it's soil now and forever.

if you do it properly growing in soil can yield just as well with an extra few weeks veg and lot's of tlc plus a good soil mix and the right conditions and you can do very well.

you ordered seeds off the net right? just order nutes of the net. Use General Hydroponics (see my grow log) or Advance Nutrients. you will save a ton of hedaches not using walmart and lowes ferts.

It's not necessary to purchase the most expensive nutes on the market, and likely our sponsors would appreciate an honorable mention. (Canna products)
But yeah...to grow quality smoke, good nutes are a necessity.
