just great, another downward spiral in my travel thru life (what a long, strange trip it's been) :D ... after the fire burnt me out, my insurance policy paid off my mortgage (that's good), but I will be getting about ten cents on the dollar, for my personal belongings (that is way bad, have lost beaucoup thousand bucks worth of tools and cameras, my favorite fetishes) ... so, I now have an excellent credit rating, and no money :wtf: ... am going out this week to trade my little Civic in on a new, big van, which I will alter to allow 'urban camping' ... after 31 years of longhaul trucking, it's not as bad as it sounds, I'm used to living in a truck ... I'll maintain computer access, and play with my photography while bumming around, so I'm hoping I'll have some fun at it ... I'm a helluva mechanic, and can build anything out of steel, but totally helpless with wood (can't make a toothpick from a 2x4) ... so, first stop will be in the MidWest, where I will set up a 'growroom' in a buddy's basement, while he builds me some cabinets, etc. in the van ... mount a solar panel on the van's roof to power laptops and sex toys, hell, I'll be all set :thumbsup:

Hey, my offer's still open, Reaper. You can move in here and be well loved for the rest of your life. Heck, you'd pretty much have the place to yourself 14 hours a day. Dave'll be working and I'm off helping deliver babies for the next two months!! I'll be tired when I get home but still very very nice to you . . . . Hey Image, I didn't realize your house burned! :( I feel so sorry for you--losing your little treasures, your first pipe, bong, etc! That pretty much sucks! Have come close to being burned out a few times. In fact, am living on my last property that burned out the living quarters.

Got an RV to do as you and I live in it. But, wasn't as smart as you. Got it big enough for 2, a mistake! It is hard to roll around in a big RV. A small Van is very practical, until you decide to settle down with the Byrds.

Sounds like you may be stuck in your new basement for awhile! Get lots of solar panels! The electricity and travel is a problem, I know! Plus, look into a small generator! They have small windmills for electricity to travel, don't buy into it--they won't power your PC. I have met people that travel like you and frankly, I think they have it made. You can get a 'camping' shower bag! Fill it with water, stick on top of van and end of day, warm shower!!! They even have protable toilet stalls that fold (for the long outdoor stays). Oh--don't forget toilet paper and a shovel!!! They always come in handy!

ten cents on the dollar--since I've been there--you may understand that I feel some ire at the insurance co! I been screwed by them too, and no thank you!

I have a decent lot, can plug you in and feed you. If you are passing thru San Berdo County! Dew drop in!!! Too bad we don't have a internet feed for us members when we travel--like a Wal-mart parking lot! DAh, may never get sober though!

Sounds like you are a driver, so you must know all the places to stay and tricks to keep on going!, cheaply, even without us.

If you don't like fishing-get a pole! You'd be surprised how nice it is to just stop and enjoy that beautiful lake you have been driving by! Stop, smell the rose's and pot! Enjoy yourself!

well, am still rolling around northern California ... having to stay close, while I wait for the sawbones' report on my newest CT scans ... temps WAY over 100 degrees last few days ... not able to set foot in the van till way after dark, too damned hot ... even too hot to screw (NEVER thought I'd say that, now I know I'm getting old) ... pics include, my 'van down by the river', and a view of 'Mt. Baldy', and, once I found a really nice campsite (by the river), look what appeared over the hill (yup, another damned fire, they really do follow me):wtf: ... message to LEO: all of your evidence went up in the fire, too :D

Pain Retreat, thanks for the info ... I am pretty well setup with most of your suggestions ... I don't have much hooked up yet, as I want my friend to build the interior for me, installing stuff as I go ... I have a new 1500watt generator, a couple inverters, and a new microwave, plus my camping gear ... I have cellular Internet, as well as Wi-Fi at most truckstops, libraries, etc. ... I did fascinate the 'natives' when I fired up the generator to power the microwave, to cook a hot dog :wtf: ... they were positively in awe :D

Veggii, I couldn't pinpoint your photo locations, but look a lot like here in NorCal, were they taken on Rt. 32 ? ...
well, got my CT-scan back for the adrenal gland, and the tumor is still small and unchanged from last year, that's good news ... the knee, however, still unknown cause for problems ,,, see the sawbones again today, but assume will need surgery 'again', to correct it ... we'll see ...
otherwise, still orbiting my home area, pain in the butt burning up all this gas waiting on doctors to fix me up ... ain't all a fun adventure ... constant battle to stay cool, stay warm, stay clean, etc. ... no probs staying medicated, :stoned: at least something is favorable ... ordered a new twin mattress, will arrive Monday, still need to build a frame for it, and add a desk/shelf, etc ... still on the floor in a sleeping bag ... BUT, I sleep really good, just like the old days in my big trucks ... will keep y'all posted, in case I encounter anything interesting :jointsmile:

I'm done with the doctors for awhile ... my ortho surgeon is stumped, knows the bone seems to be bleeding, something is wrong, that's it ... wants to go back in, maybe 're-do' the knee replacement :wtf: ... I said nope, not yet ... wait and see if it gets worse, before I have another knife-fight with him :D ... am house-sitting right now, but think I will roll out in a week, or so ... my trailer will be built, for a mid-October pickup, so thinking I will visit family in midwest, then drop down to Texas, pickup trailer, and go back west ... don't want to spend winter in the midwest ... might winter at my naturist resort, cheap camping, no laundry :D
