Thousands of bikers greeted Republican presidential candidate John McCain with an approving roar tonight as he visited the Buffalo Chip Campground near Sturgis, home of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

McCain was honored at a salute to veterans. In remarks to the crowd, he criticized Democrat Barack Obama for supporting a timetable for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq while opposing efforts to reduce record-high energy prices.

McCain was accompanied by Senator John Thune, who has been mentioned as a potential running mate. He had warned the McCain campaign that a politician might receive an unfriendly welcome, but McCain relished the warm embrace.

McCain's wife, Cindy, accompanied the Arizona senator.

He probably would have gotten anyone who was smoking it arrested. Mccain is strongly against medical marijuana. It really sucks especially with him being a cancer patient, he would have been the perfect figurehead for med-MJ. He has made comments before that he had cancer and never used MArijuana and his treatment went well etc etc.

Even if he does switch his thinking on the subject, probably not a good time to let everyone know.
