Improving the Volcano

I just came across this blog post about making the Volcano more efficient:

"During our experimentation we realized that using the bigger bag is not only easier it is also more efficient because you waste less vapor. Think about whenever you attach the Solid or Easy Valve on to the Volcano or take it them. There is always a little lost vapor; however, with the bigger bag you are taking the valve on and off the Volcano valve fewer total times per filling chamber, which maximizes your vapor by eliminating waste." Makes sense, I'm gonna try it out. Has anyone else every experimented like this? What do you think?

true, but the loss is minimal, it all depends on how much you smoke at a time

I personally like medium sized bags because its tailored to my specifications

1 Bowl lasts about 2-3 bags and I get fresh roasted herb out of 1 bowl

i've had my volcano for quite sometime. my technique seems pretty efficient. i prefer the official volcano grinder it seems to work the best in my opinion. pour the ground herb into herb canister using a funnel so everything goes exactly where it should (i make one out of thick paper and tape). tap the funnel to knock off any remaining crystals into canister. place metal plunger into canister to secure herb. wait for the yellow light to turn off. attach the bag to the herb canister. place it a top the volcano. crank on the hot air. fill enough but without to much wear n tear. wouldn't like to risk a leak .once bag is filled quickly & safely detach the bag from the herb canister. take canister off hot volcano (no heat wanted while not being vaped) cover herb canister with something heavy enough to press down and form a seal to prevent any vapor from escaping but won't melt (example i use a cork coaster with a candle a top to press down and form a seal) once bag is empty reattach covered herb canister and see the efficiency! only the best medication please

Yeah, I notice the bag tends to leak a long the seam. Filling it all the way probably isn't great for the bag, but a nice plump bag of vapor is a beautiful thing.

They could also make the plastic parts of the bags for the Easy Valve all different colors. Instead of having them all be orange. Then you could like have big vape sessions and let people choose the color they wanted to be and each person would have their own bag.

They could also create a new attachment for the top maybe made out of metal or glass rather than that trashy plastic bag. I understand that there is a 3rd party company that makes one but it is shitty as fuck. It has a hole in it for gods'sake the vapor escapes! If only storz-bickel would design a really chill top for the vape that was engineered aswell as the machine.

If there was a better material than oven bags we would have seen it by now. All the bag vapes use them except the Vapir One. They use the same type material, but it's proprietary and a lot more expensive.

A 10' bag!!! WTF! I would have to refill the bowl to fill that bitch. I just switched to regular oven bags. I couldn't bring myself to pay for another set of 'official' bags. I'll have to when that clear rubber insert that has an X cut into it becomes less flexable. Oven bags at grocery store are less than $3 for 6. Volcano bags are like $8 each when you buy them online and they don't sell singles. :(

I been using a volcano for about 5 yrs....the best way to use it IMO

Try using a 2 1/2 - 3 FT long bag

Fill the weed chamber 3/4 full (about a 1/2 g), preheat the volcano 340*-350*.....place the weed chamber on the volcano turn the compressor on let the hot air flow through the weed chamber until you can see the vape..... then attach the bag.

normally the first 10 sec or so is just air .... not vape.....doing it this way eliminates the extra air:D

I normally get 3 - 3 ft bags of vape:vap_smiley: per load

I would argue that the first 10 seconds are not all air. According to the instructions of the volcano, it says wait 3 seconds. When I use mine I usually will press the air button and then put the bag on right after(within 1.5 seconds). If the bowl is big enough I will see vapor filling the bag instantly.

An improvement that I think could be made to the volcano is:

- put lights on the red and green button on the digital volcano, so you can see them in the dark.

-the red button is stupid. they should make it a black switch. its confusing to other people that aren't familiar with the vape.(they tend to think that red means stop and green means go) and its not like you have any reason to hit that one button except for twice every sess (once to turn it on and once to turn it off) [contrast: i like the green button]

Try an experiment...fill your weed chamber about 3/4 full not 1/2 way or a 1/4full ...3/4 full:thumbsup: Place the screen assembly on top, now leave your bag off

preheat the volcano to 340* .... turn the blower/compressor on.... set the chamber itself on your volcano....time until you can see the vapor 6-10 secs depending on your strain

If you set your temp to 360 or above you will get noticable vape (visually seen) in about 4-6 sec.

I vape at lower temps I makes the vapor smoother....the higher the temp of the vape extract the harsher the vapor in the bag

Because of the lower temperature I'm vaping at it takes the herb longer to heat up so the vaping starts a few seconds later:thumbsup:

Basically what I meant was.... wait until you can see the vapor then attach the bag weather it 3 sec. or 10 sec.
