Does anyone every accidentally smoke too much or something and your body feels so relaxed it is as if you almost forget to breathe? You have to keep thinking about breathing instead of it just being controlled subconsciously. I think what I smoke is mostly sativa dominant, but apparently I am wrong because I get that once in a while, feels like I can't get enough air in, have to try and take big breaths. But I quit smoking months ago, I vaporize now, so I doubt it could be a physical experience with my lungs, and like I said it is rare, maybe when really high or getting high and drinking alcohol at the same time, but otherwise not.
Similar experience?

Are you on any opiate painkillers? Cannabinoids can potentiate the effects of opiates, and vice versa. So in theory, getting really stoned while on opioid analgesics could cause respiratory depression.
My theory anyway, assuming you're on any such meds.

When meditating or doing any exercises for breath control, it ALWAYS happens to me.... and I'm sober. By starting the journey into deep relaxation I have no choice but to consciously control my breathing or my body will stop on it's own. It's extremely annoying especially when I want to completely relax and not have to think about anything. It takes a while to revert back to autopilot. "Don't forget to breathe" - so cliche, but for me it really is true. Maybe it's more common than we think, but people are too afraid to admit it, fearing they have a respiratory problem such as apnea.... or it totally slips their mind to tell us that "oh, yeah, when you meditate you're gonna have to control your own breath whether you like it or not" hence the remind yourself to breathe tip.
It's only happened to me once while smoking.... it was the first time I ever got super stoned. Took one big hit, held it in, and a minute or so later I figured something was wrong.... then I realized I hadn't exhaled yet. Breathing was fine after that.
I have been able to meditate to get my breathing controlled to where I barely need to breathe at all and stay that way as long as I remain calm and focused. It's a trippy thing to experiment with when you're bored, like when trying to lower heart rate.

It happens sometimes with me too... but when it happens, i just dont breathe instead forcing it. When my body feels the actual need of breathing, it does breathe, usually in the form of deep sighs, about one each minute or so...
For me it seems it happens because the body is SO relaxed that it needs far less air, and so the respiratory rhythm slows down noticeably... but i dont think one would die only because the of slowing of the of breathing caused by weed... unless you be using other kinds of meds, which could make it dangerous...
But if not, i think there is no great trouble in waiting until the body feels the need to breath instead forcing it... even cause when im in this slow breathing state i feel FAR higher and can reach some levels of body and mind relaxment that are simply amazing... i feel like floating... damn... its f*cking damn good... :stoned::abduct:

I always enjoi your posts Coelho!
I wish I had not been freaking out thinking something was wrong, I definitely could have enjoyed the experience more... Guess it was just good erb; it was a salad-bowl (multiple strains), often those are much more fun.
I have not been on any opiate-derived painkillers or whatnot in many months; almost a year ago, I had bronchitis (before I got a vape) and my doc prescribed liquid opiates as painkillers for the bronchitis (which I thought was odd/unnecessary, but don't question good fortune, right?) And my doc knew I was using cannabis, he even told me to bake brownies.
Yet he didn't think to mention the potentiated effects when the two were mixed, I had to find out myself.

Well... pure weed cant cause death by respiratory depression, no matter how much you smoke... but i dont know how about opiates... as they are "heavier" substances than weed...

With pure weed, well of course not! One simply falls asleep if trying to smoke way too much weed at once.
Regarding the latter, when mixed with weed, perhaps the threshold for respiratory depression could lower. ? Prolly not, but the doc could have at least told me of the ride I might be in for... funny enough, he actually told me to bake brownies (but I purchased a vape instead).
I can imagine what it would have been like if I had eaten erb as well... talk about potentiation. haha
peace bro :rastasmoke:
