View Full Version : Ripped off by a co-op

You know what I hate more then being ripped off is being ripped off due to my own stupidity! Donâ??t let this happen to you.
I am not going to name the co-op where this happened at, I feel I was ripped off as much from their dishonesty as my own stupidity and to get bogged down talking about a specific co-op would defeat my purpose. We all need to be careful consumers.
So I went to a co-op that has a ton of good comments from patients a solid reputation and where I have been happy with in the past. On the last visit there was a screw up I was charged the regular price instead of the special. I PMâ??d them they were nice and said to bring the receipt on my next visit and theyâ??d make good. Shit happens to all of us and I was happy to let it slide. Finances being what they are and needing approximately 2 ounces a month I usually buy the less expensive strains. When I got there they were sold out of the lower end strains, it happens. So I asked for shake which they had. The bud tender listed different strains of shake at different prices per gram. Okay I am mathematically challenged if you could be dyslexic with numbers then thatâ??s me there is no way I am going to be able to do the math in my head so I ask for the per ounce price I got a blank stare and he repeats the per gram price. Idiot that I am I asked him to give me $440.00 worth of shake. He then happily pulls out his calculator measures it out and bags it up. I get home and look at the receipt and see that he gave me 25g of one strain and 6g of anotherâ?¦.remember this is all shake it even saids so on the receipt and at home looking at their menu with calculator in hand I discovered that they charged me exactly the same rate per gram for shake tahoe as they charge for regular tahoe. I know I am an idiot! I am going to be kicking myself over this for a long time. And I am going to have to figure out how to stretch what I usually need in two weeks to four.
So friends be careful. Compassion, Care, and Love are all great words and I know many care but they are businesses with bottom lines. Never takes things for granted.
Peace

Hi and thanks for the sympathy I do feel like a total idiot and at my age I should have known better.
WH I do grow my own but I grow outside so I still have another 8-12 weeks until harvest,
The wife of the co-op owner knows what went down but the bottom line is that it was my own fault I know how I am I know I tend to get stressed out driving the hour to get to the co op. That is why I am not naming the co-op because the worse I can say is that for shake they have high prices.
Live and learn and find a new co-op for when I need to supplement my grow.

Yeah you DO have awhile until harvest. I didn't even know co ops SOLD shake but I guess it makes sense. Some shake has a lot of broken off trichs in it so it's not always a bad thing.
Ouch though, anyway.

first i gotta say, i am grateful that there are dispensaries for us to get the meds, but with that being said, i feel ripped off every time i go to get some MMJ. yesterday i went for the second time and picked up a 1/4 of "master kush". it's pretty good ( i'm no expert), but doesn't knock you on your ass. for 145 for a 1/4, i kind of expect more. that's 580 per OZ! yikes!!!
i'm not connected to the drug culture, but have smoked with others that pay 300 per OZ on the black market, and that weed was just as good, at half the price. i have one friend who gets really cheap (50 per OZ) mexican dirt weed. tastes and looks like crap, but gets the job done as good as the 65 per 1/8 indica i bought at a disp. you could actually even buy health insurance with the left over money(or a house payment in the latter case).
am i the only one who looks at it this way?

Why support the heavy pric of them... Were I live It is very expensive for those who have 2 pay but at least you get what you pay for... There is not delivery services BLACK MARKET guy's that deliver? We have over 30 of them in the City!!! They are raking in the cash w/ very little overhead... Luna, just because they did not have a gun in their hand, does not mean it is your own fault! It is business and they robbed you (everytime you go in, as far as I am concerned).
It is like saying, "I got shot, while I was in the grocery store, but it is my fault, I went shopping!"
Those guys are stoned, usually and you need to check them. But, they know you are on mmj and they can screw you. I blame them and fear I may be hitting that place up: Is it the one that charges, $40.(if u choose delivery) extra to deliver over 25 miles? So, I know?
Since, I am not sure where you are, it concerns me. As, I am not always astute when buying as I ought to be either. Hell, I can't get home from a Wal-mart with all my bags or even the thing I bought that I went in for! pr:hippy:

unfortunately this isn't the club's fault either. If a customer goes into a business and requests something specific, then the business is going to sell it to you unless they're trying to push another product that is similar. You can argue that good customer service is providing the customer what they ask for, or you could argue that the club should of made recommendations, BUT I don't think you walked in there and explained your whole story about your medical needs and your attempts in trying balance available funds and quantity of meds. Basically they gave you what you asked for...so maybe the title of this thread should be "ripped off by co-op, but they have GREAT customer service because the customer is always right at this place."
In all seriousness, I'm sorry you didnt get what you needed, but you did get what you wanted. I've learned the hard way myself too and looking back, the lesson really was worth the money I lost. Its worth it to invest the time in yourself to get this all figured out so that it never happens again and you maximize your buying power. Don't be so hard on youself either. It would of been nice if the club employee had suggested the better deal to you on the real buds, but I've also known people to have been burned by rude customers who say things like "look buddy, just give me what i asked for." If you've been satisfied with the meds from that club and enjoyed going there in the past, its worth it to give them another shot.
I just ran into a similiar situation the last time I went to my usual club. They have a much better price break on halves. I like to mix it up a bit and usually get a 1/4 of 2 different strains and pay whatever a half of the higher priced strain is. On my last visit, they had a new guy working there and he charged me separately on the two 1/4's. My condition doesn't affect my ability to do math so immediately I was like woah, that sounds too high to me. The guy apologized, talked to his boss and it all got straightened out within 1 minute and I still think their customer service is great.

LR, sorry to here about your luck , It'd be cool if they made it right. but at the same time you said you asked for $440 of shake. personally I wouldn't spend $440 a zip on any strain but that's me. hope your outdoor harvest brings enough meds to get you through till your next harvest

Thanks all for the words of support. Pain it wasn't a delivery service it was a dispensary in SFV. You're right medicine the lesson was invaluable and I did get what I asked for. I take full responsibility for my own stupidity. It won't happen again! And its getting to be harvest time so all is good now.

I don't see it as your fault. Thats very poor business practice. You should bring it to the owner's attention, with your reciept and the other older one too.
It's just unethical.

luna; I had one in mind that delivers and is walk in! But, it was closed down recently anyway! And not near where you went!
I use to get my pills from Dr. monthly. Get home, half the pills, etc. Since, it is a drive and inconvienence to go, I have them count (for past 7 yrs) before I leave! happy harvest!!! pr
