Hi everyone,
First off, I would like to express my total confusion. To say I'm a little overwhelmed by this wonderful messageboard is an understatement, but I've come here seeking help. I would like to explain my predicament, my questions, and hopefully some of you guys can help me. Anyway....
I, like so many of you, enjoy smoking cannabis. I've been smoking for a long time, and I would like to experiment with growing. I'm ready to break out the cash for a nice hydroponics kit, but I'm not sure if sucess with hydroponics is realistic.
My concerns....
Well, I'm still in High School so I live with my parents. This means that I have to be fairly discreet about my habits. I have a few spaces in my room that I could set up a Hydroponics kit(A couple cupboards), but they only provide for about 4-5 feet in height. I know that some plants can get pretty big, so this is a concern.
Futhermore, I have concerns about what I need to power to have sucess. I know that if I'm running 4-5 chords through my room to my closet it will probably look suspicious. So could you guys offer me some insight to what exactly I'm going to need to power? Can it be done with battery power? How many outlets am I looking at for a decent kit?
Another concern of mine is the obvious odor that would ensue. I assume it would differentiate from plant to plant, but is there anyway to effectively kill odor? Would I be safe to just shut the closet door?
Finally, can I realistically grow hydroponically out of my bedroom? I would love to try it. I am more than happy to commit the time/money/effort to it. But is it really a possibility for me? I'm a noob in every sense of the word. I know nothing of botony. I don't have any experience with weed other than smoking. If hydroponics isn't the best method for me, could someone recommend something else? Price isn't really an issue, I'll get the money somehow, but what kind of cost am I looking at for an intermediate hydroponics kit?
I'm sorry, I know this is probably featured elsewhere on the forums. I'm just confused, overwhelmed, and hungry to try and start this. Thanks for any help guys.

your a dumbass for thinking of growing in a house that is not yours. You should have more respect for your parents that feed and put a roof over your head.
just smoke and enjoy until you put you and only you at risk.
Also are you not afarid of starting a fire and ruin everything your parents have worked so hard for?
I hope no one gives you any info

Thanks, but you don't have any right to judge me without knowing me, my family situation, or my intentions.
I'm interested in growing so I can keep my hands out of illicit drug dealings. I have no interest in fucking up a scholarship to a high level college and dissapointing my parents in that respect.
Save it for someone who cares, I'll take helpful advice or criticism but not some self righteous cunt's ramblings.

your situation is that you live in a house that is not yours. And that you can get your parents in alot of trouble or worse. Your intentions is to grow pot in your room without the knowledge of the home owner. I know you would not care about my response because you show you dont care about how your actions can hurt the people around you. This is the last I will say and becareful as not to burn down the house or end your parents up in jail

I for one am not really sold on the Hydro thing as the nutes are in my opinion way over rated for the price paid and I have always had great luck with dirt growing. I recommend that until you have a few grows under your belt in dirt that you save your cash for later when you have studied the technique and feel comfortable.
Dirt growing is cheaper safer and the best way to learn from your mistakes, another thing in my opinion is Damn aren't there enough chemicals in the food you eat that you don't need to be smoking them too. ever take a hit and damn near feel like you are about to cough up a lung after choking to death, well thats mostly due in part of chemicals locked into the plant that didn't get flushed. and why do people think hydro is so expensive? I'll tell you this much it sure as hell ain't because of the quality of the smoke. I can grow organically as good or better smoke in dirt for less than a 5th the cost of hydro chemicals but hey thats just me you can waste your money if you want.:stoned::D

I for one personally have never grown in soil. My grow cherry was popped hydroponically. Lemme tell you that hydroponic growing can be very difficult at first and very unforgiving. You have to monitor your nutes daily and adjust ph regularly especially if you are using non-ph balanced nutrients. Soil grow would be alot more discreet cuz the air pumps in hydroponics used to circulate the nutrient solutions and aerate the reservoir are indeed fairly loud especially if you have no fish aquariums in your home. LOL... I have all my setup in my upstairs away from my living room so guests do not hear my garden at work :). I do agree with Stincinc that you should not put your family in danger by doing this cuz if the wrong person finds out about it.. You are indeed endangering those that don't even know that you are involved in illegal activities in their home. I suggest waiting till you are in your own place .. and I don't recommend an apartment cuz they can come into your place any time they want ( the management that is) and not worth it. Peace!

Hydro is the only way to go. It's faster , cleaner and easier to fix problems. I know a guy that mixes his own nute for pennies. You can't beat that. That being said.
What do your parents think ?
At your age, you don't know what long term is. I'm 50 and have smoked since 17. That's long term. I do it now for pain. Well I enjoy it too. I have a problem right now. Look at my name. It's not that way because I'm funny.
Your young and risk your whole life but we will help if that's your desire. My nephew who is your age turned me in because he was a chicken shit little bastered that could not take resposiblity for his own action. He was busted for choke and used me to get out of it or so he thought. I was not big enough of a bust because I'm not a dealer. So they made the little bitch turn in the choke dealer. Now he has a death sentence on him and runs in fear. The choke dealer is in jail for 10 years and other gang members search him out. Forever on the run. KARMA.
All that being said and you know what may happen and you must keep this the biggest secret ever. Hydro on ! I respect you wanting to stay away from the bad dealer out there.
I used to help some cancer pateints and now they suffer. Not to mention the 20 thousand in court and fines.
Let us know. Systems can be made cheap. Sorry I ramble on.

Worked for me, u never know they might be cool with it just make sure they understand why ur doing it and also that they understand the risk. Start with a small setup until u get the hang of it, lowryder crosses only get 2 feet tall most of the time.

The forum rules on this matter are VERY clear, and not open to discussion:
http://boards.cannabis.com/introduce-yourself/148253-messageboard-rules.html
So Oh Noes, the Morality Police (those same wiser heads whose grow advice you respect) have this to say:
Learn, read, study, grow an outdoor garden. Tomatoes or pot plants, whatever. Learn to be a gardener. Get good grades, get your degree, and get a job that allows you to rent or buy a home that does not require you to have a housemate.
THEN grow. I for one have no tolerance for kids who disrespect the people who put a roof over their heads and food in their bellies. If you can't man up and ask permission from the folks, growing is not for you. It requires a certain self-control that comes with maturity, and comments like 'oh noes the morality police' show that you simply are not there yet.
CLOSED.
Edit: Just noticed the 'cunt' bit. Even were it not for the parent thing, lying about your age, and being too young to be here... I think perhaps our lovely time together has regretfully come to a close.
