Hey guys im trying to decide whether or not to spend 100-150$ on a vape or a bong. One of my friends has one that is a box with a hose coming out, not a volcano and he says it gives him a different kind of high and it preserves the weed a lot.

Based on your guys experiences do you think spending around 150 on a vape is a good investment even if it is not a volcano? Or should i just go all out and buy a sick bong?

well, there's shitloads of opinions on this

here's my take, i have a vapolution

1. yes, it's worth it; you get high off a little weed, and the different sort of high can be quite nice

2. get a bag vape if you are going to be using it with friends; passing the bag is something i wish i could do with my vape, although i really like the fact that my vapolution is all glass, and it's nicely made; i'd definitely recommend it for a tube-vape

3. bongs are great too; i love bongs; there's nothing quite like a nice bong

let's put it this way: if you smoke weed even a little frequently, you're gonna spend some bucks; i really think it's worth it to at least have one nice vape, bong (something sizeable, my little one isn't nearly as good as my buddy's big one), and learn to role a nice spliff

is it worth it? yes, yes it is; and if you smoke a lot, you'll help your lungs a lot

is it worth it? yes, yes it is; and if you smoke a lot, you'll help your lungs a lotI agree. My lungs couldn't take smoke anymore but vapor goes down easy. The effect is a little different since some of the toxins you get with combustion are missing from vapor. It doesn't affect the body as much as far as couchlock goes, since the toxins are mostly sleep inducing.

If you like bongs and are interested in a vape, I would highly recommend one of the 7th Floor vapes-Silver Surfer or Da Buddha. The DB is $159 less 10% (discount good for both) with coupon code '420Times'. I've got the Surfer and the hits are BIG for a vape. I also have the Vapolution that onequickmove mentioned. It's great for a home/portable unit, but the SSV/DB provides the big hits that bong users like. You can't hit it like a bong. Herb vaporizes slower than it burns, and a real heavy hit pulls a lot of cold air through the bowl, and you can lower the temp too much if you're not careful. But vapor is sooooo smooth-take a nice, slow, deep hit and you end up with enough vapor for 3 people. ;)

If you decide to buy a vape, I wouldn't get one of the cheap <$100 boxes. They're cheaply made in China, with questionable parts, have no warranty, and just don't hold up. I wouldn't trust the safety of the guts anyway. The SSV/DB units have a nice clean vapor path that only travels through about an inch of the heater tube, outside all electrical components.

If smoke doesn't bother you at all, and you like the smoke effect, you may not want to completely give it up, but most people that try vapor like it enough to vape at least part of the time.

i just bought a Oxygen Mini, and i'm asking myself the same question (is it worth it?). as other threads have mentioned, it's a different kind of high. i'm new to this so my technique may be completely wrong. but so far the kind of high i've been getting is the kind where you're not stoned.

i use really small amounts, which were enough to get me a GOOD buzz by smoking. when i vape it i always seem to be checking with myself to see if it had an effect. anyone else feel this? i do get a nice heady feeling, and i do have more energy, but i've never come close to that feeling that it takes all you concentration to maintain.

i don't get the obviously noticeable vapor like on the uTube videos. this is most likly because of the small amount i put in.
i did try it with more herb, and it worked better. i probably got about 10-12 hits, but i still didn't get toasted, felt pretty good though. then again i used more than i would have burned.

before i got the mini i was using a light bulb, and that worked real good, but i suspect that's because i was accessing some of the toxins we're trying to avoid.

You're in the minority my friend, unless your definition of "stoned" = the couchlock feeling you get due to the sleep inducing toxins provided by smoke-nice stuff like carbon monoxide, benzene, and hydrogen cyanide.

From all accounts I've seen, the Mini is the most satisfactory vape that Air2 has produced-a nice little portable that gets the job done. It doesn't produce the thick, visible vapor of standard size vapes, but that doesn't mean it can't be effective. I know a guy who's very happy with the Mini, and he has two other nice standard size whip vapes.

I get plenty stoned from a vape, and I've used a dozen different ones. You may be happier with a larger, home style vape with a standard size whip. Bigger hits certainly make for a quicker rise.

For your budget, you should probably get a vaporbros or vaporcannon. The will give you the most bang for your buck in that price range. I like vapes a lot more than bongs. So much healthier....

I'd second the Da Buddha recommendation in that price range. Or, since your deciding between a vape and a bong, you can cut your budget in half and get a Vaporstar, a vape that looks like a bong.

There are so many ways in which vaping is better than smoking:

1) Healthier
2) Stealthier: In terms of odor, the smell is very different than smoke and might not even be recognized. And it dissipates entirely, very fast. The clouds dissipate much quicker than clouds of smoke, though they can still be quite visible. Therefore you can vape in a room next to someone who you don't want knowing about it and be safe (provided they don't walk in your room). The vapes themselves are not usually very stealthy but there are some nice options out there if that's a concern.
3) Efficiency: not do you get more from the material from vaping vs smoking, but the material that is spent after vaping can still be used. I've had some smashingly successful cooking projects with vaped goods. There are other worthwhile ventures you can do as well like making hash oil. If you factor this in, vaping absolutely spanks and embarrasses smoking when it comes to efficiency.

I love my volcano

It conserves weed, and you can make edibles with leftovers after you save some up

it has less chance to break like a glass piece

carrying it isn't too much of a problem, I put mine in a brown shopping bag when going from one location to another if I need to
(you could buy the case)

Way Healthier, I have sinus problems so I try to avoid smoking out of anything other than my volcano at all costs

AWESOME investment, my friend has gone through 3 bongs in the last 2 and a half years and she spends about 100-200$ each time whereas I paid 400$ for my volcano and she still works like the day I bought her:thumbsup:
