Hai All =] Im new to this site and quite new to actually growing..
Anyway, the main problem i have is sprouters, i grew some around 2 months ago...in a pot 6 inches by 6 inches, and everyone of them had the same problem, they sprouted within 2 days, and within week they were huge, and the stems were gangly and very weak, and eventually they just tipped over and died.
Iv tried growing again 5 with big buddha cheese and 5 big buddha blue cheese (the blue cheese is taken forever to sprout unlike the standard cheese).

My main problem is that they keep sprouting again too high and i have to keep re-potting the bastard things every 3 days.

I thought it could have been the Miracle Gro causing this, but iv part-mixed it with standard cheap ass soil this time around they are still stretching and looking very thin with no leaves just pure root and stem.

Please dudes, where the hell am I going wrong?

Any help at all would be much appreciated.

P.S. iv been using plenty of water on them and no feeder supplments etc

Jason

For heaven sakes....get them under some decent lighting so they stop stretching themselves literally to death.

And start reading everything about growing you can.......that one was pretty darn basic.

Good luck.

After you get the lighting under control, you'll need to get an oscillating fan on 'em. this will strengthen the stems and provide fresh air.
See post #10 in the link below. Helps you deal with seedling stretch.

jasonsensation: You know when your sproutlings get that Tall, that you can bury them further in the dirt down to the cotyledons (first set of leaves) So this way they have more support. I used that method for all of mine and they are doing really good.

My first try ended up just like that too.

Just don't put them any deeper then those first set of leaves.

What kind of light are you using? How far away is it?

Hope it works out for you.

Its the standard light you get with the 100 pound kit... fluro isit?.

They are about 10 metres away, but my room is white as hell and the light is pinging off everywhere, and the plants are on the window ledge behind the curtain.

I did that today...replanted them, its bloody crazy..the stems are like 5 inches long yet they arent anywhere near the second set up leafs yet.

Why does it do this, is it the humidity because i havent got the windows open? or are they getting bits of light causing the quick growth?

Im going to get some Biobizz tomorow, would anyone say its worth getting some?

Thanks for this help Dyranty dude, appreciate it tons bud

You're kidding, right? With fluoro lights the bulbs need to be a couple of inches away, maximum. Virtually worthless past half a foot. (1/6 meter)

Lol Hai, no its not a fluro light..its one of the lights you get with the kit that consists of a ballast etc..a strong yellow light

Anyway, im really not sure why the roots keep bending and i have to keep on adding soil ontop just to stop it....they have plenty of depth to grow so i'm really lost here guys

In any event 10 meters is to far for any light (10 meters = aprox 30 feet). If your talking an HID light (bright yellow with ballast) then from what I have read your using wrong light to begin with. The HID light isnt used till they get bigger, should use either CFL bulb or flouresant tubes when first starting. Look for either a cool white or daylight bulb as either of these is high on the blue spectrum side of lighting which is what you want to start/veg growth. Stay away from the "plant bulbs" as these are high on the red spectrum side of light and those are used for flowering. when you get the right bulbs put your lil babies right under it and they should slow down on the stretch quite a bit. repotting and support sticks can help also. Have a nice day!!

I hope it works out for you jasonsensation.

I have got lil mini plants, im growing with 2 23 watt cfl's and 2 t12 daylight fluor tubes.
Mine are all like 5-7 nodes (leaf sets with branches). I'm doing a micro grow in a rubbermaid box I never have mine further then 6 inches.

Actually im considering stretching mine

Are you open growing in your room? or is it closed off somewhere? I suggest putting together even a small grow box even if it's painted flat white cardboard if you are going to go the CFL (Compact Fluors) way.

That's the cheapest method if your trying to save.

What did you have in mind?

I'm all about rigging things since the economy has gone down the tube and gas prices up it!

Ahhh Kool :) Its just a huge pain in the arse when you have to re-plant them constantly when they are sprouting too quickly, most of them now are on the second set of leaves, iv been told now to re-plant them up until the soil reaches the second set of leaves this is right yeh dude?

I have a good sized warddrobe, the lenth and width is easily a Metre x Metre

Yeh the economy is completed screwed i agree, i was just wondering sorry to be a pain but what cheap liquid would you advise to start adding to my plants now.

I have three random superskunk plants i tried doing before i got hold of female seeds, what is the best way to tell if they are female do you think? I was told to look half way up the plant and you will see tiny little prongs, almost hair like strands?
