As you know, or if you don't know, Metallica's 9th studio album will be called Death Magnetic and they have just released the cover art for the album.

Looks fucking awesome and I'm sure it will sound awesome, but we have said that since the release of Load back in 1996!

Keep our fingers crossed!

It may sound good music-wise, but James' voice is long gone, so that's gonna be shit no doubt. Plus Lars has just really gotten sloppy lately, really sloppy. Kinda looks like a pussy eh?

I really can't get into Metallica anymore. They are greedy, and even more greedy than most musicians. They have lost touch with reality. And they were dicks about the whole online downloading thing.

agreed, he just cried about stealing from him with out offering a better alternative. CD's suck and im sick of paying for something i dont want. anyways, i lost interest after S &M. but love everything up until then. besides, badass bands dont make album covers that can be mistaken for a vagina!

They should have changed their name a while back, but on a good side the new bassist is sick. I forget his name something Trujillo, I rember seeing him play with Suicidal Tendencies and Ozzy just to name a few. And he was sick then now he is just one hell of a metal bassist. Not like the Cliff days but good bass might help, hell even the Newstead days were way better than what ever has happend to them since. Yeah new metallica sucks but once they were Alcoholica, and Unchained Melody, and a bunch of other shit that kicked ass now its just ass. I hope they have at least a few good songs, so we can steal em or eles its just not worth stealin.

Its definitely a cooter. That being said, it'll still definitely suck. Bonnaroo scmonaroo.

I was thinking after my last post that my uncle actually went to this posh $2000 dollar a day rehab a while back. and was actually in there with a few celebs. one was james hatfield. I was never allowed to go talk to him... bum deal. but my uncle told me he was in there for sex addiction....not drugs/alcohol. LOL, something about his wife was going to leave him if he didnt get help. so i guess it doesnt surprise me that their subconscious mind made an album cover like that. either that or they thought sex sells more that good ol' fashion rock n roll!

Lars is a bit of a dick, but guess what... he was right. Online downloading IS stealing, it was back then and it still is. So many people are in denial about this, its not right man. I agree Metallica doesn't need more money...true, but every time a band that you like releases a new cd, by downloading it you're simply stealing it. End of story.

They can still play like they were in the 80s. Just not entirely vocally. Songs like Battery, Fight Fire With Fire, and Disposable Heroes are played at live gigs. James can't sing like he did on Kill Em All, but he still has that Black Album/Justice voice when he wants to use it. Just imagine how much brutality his vocal chords have taken, so give him a break when people say he can't sing like he is 20 or some bullshit.

I feel sorry for all of these black metal/death metal bands because they won't be around forever because the singers will blow their voices singing such music. You think the singer from Cannibal Corpse will have the same voice at James' age?

Lars can still double bass drum. He is more than capable of it. Dude, if Lars sucks as bad as you say, than he would have been another Dave Mustaine recently. He gets shit because YouTube has crappy quality videos of concerts where you can't really hear the bass drum at all. I saw Metallica live in 03. I feel the double bass very strong.

And yes Metallica were taking the whole Napster things too far, but they are different now.

I agree...dont get me wrong,I saw them 6 times on the black album tour but are they gonna be like Boston and Journey or The Stones where they just keep making tour-generating crap music? I dont want to be 60 and see james do an "ooooh yeah-hah" and his dentures fall out or lars' arm breaks...lol. ya know I used to think lars was really good but now after hearing many other drummers as the years go by, im not so sure anymore.

The album sounds like it's going to turn out pretty good, but the drums.... ohhhh christ the drums... they sound bloody awful and louder than everything else. It's like sitting there listening to a great album while Lars sits beside you hitting buckets.

I think the best Metallica Album is Ride the Lightning....They went downhill as soon as they released the "Black Album..." just my 34 cents.

Yeah Trip, that's the track I've been hearing on my local rock station (WCCC Hartford woo hoo!) and it is seriously awesome... really well written and has that classic Metallica sound to it. Luv.

BTW you get that grouse this season? Yum.

I have not purchased a Metallica album since And Justice for All...
Everything since then has been crap IMHO.

Well I've got to hand it to them...personally I did not think the album was better than mediocre, but I guess a lot of people liked it b/c it sold a shit load of copies, and had mostly positive reviews. I saw a video of them on the Death Magnetic tour, they brought back pyro, flames and all, improved their onstage performance, got a bit tighter, Jame's voice is sounding a bit better also. I guess Metallica is back...at least for a little while longer :wtf:

I downloaded the album (yeah I'm an internet pirate, oh well) and after listening to it several time it starts to grow on you. I've listened to Metallica all my life and they've been one of the largest influences on me musically and emotionally as I've watched the shit they've had to go through. This album reminds me in style sort of like St. Anger, except it isn't shit. Its got some seriously heavy riffs that just make me sit in a chair thrashing my head, which is fuckin awesome. They gave Kirk his solos back(YESSSSSSSSS), the lyrics and vocals arent SPECTACULAR, but James IS older and that takes away from it. However, he still has the most rock steady right hand in metal, period. That is what makes the riffs so amazing, he could stare at a wall for a day and a half and keep doing it over and over with no problem. You know no matter what, even after getting his arm burned all to shit, he's gonna lay down the HEAVY shit. I'd say 8/10, for bringing back some of that soul they were seriously lacking the past 3 albums (though I liked parts of all three of them). All in all it was a massive success, and I could be happy if they called it quits now. I couldn't say that after St. Anger.

Tell me, how can I be lost if I've got nowhere to go?

Its definitely a cooter.

im wondering why no one has commented on the fact that the album cover clearly has nothing to do with vaginas haha. just a coffin shaped magnet in some iron filings. think back to highschool. do you guys remember polarity? [you may search for it on google images now]

i actually think the cover is pretty damn cool cause the cover is simply a picture of the name. coffin shaped magnet=death magnetic, and its showing us its a magnet through its polarity. cmon guys. a cooter? pshhhhhhhhhh. watch some bill nye the science guy or something next time you smoke. itll be entertaining AND possibly educational
