400 Watt Growing in Apartment with Grow Tent???

Does anyone grow in an apartment that they live in? Do you use at least a 400 watt bulb? Please let me know if you think this would be fine (grow tent) and how much your light bill is usually monthly? Thanks.

I got a 250w set-up and it sucks, to hot, maybe if u have a cool tube tho!!!

yeah, but does it take up to much electricity in your apartment?

hey anbesol,

check your power bill for per watt price you pay(govt mandated to be there), and multiply times id say 500-600 to find out the impact it will have. dont forget your ballast and other items in your tent will use power also. definitely will have heat/burning issues w/ a 400 in there. cooltube extracted outside...gonna be some work, but good luck to you:thumbsup:

400w is nothing. Estimate 1 kw per taxed legal bedroom of your home as your total allowance for growing juice. Remember to increase efficiency in other aspects of your lifestyle.

what she said!! I would remember to leave lights off when you aren't in rooms...close A/C vents to rooms not used as much...If you conserve, a 400w set up shouldn't raise your bill more than 10-15 bucks a month...and I would say 20sq ft grow space....IMHO

Yea the reason i say mine is to hot is because I have one a/c (that sucks) to cool my entire apartment so i just keep my door shut and the window open in my room, or else the a/c would do absolutely nothing, if you have good cooling or central air i would think u should be fine! I would get a cool tube tho, it seems like its just so much easier cause you don't have to worry about temps to much...

A 400 watt hps will use about the same amount of electricity as a common desktop pc. Should not see that much difference in electric bill.
