greetings, just wondering if anybody has any advice on this little problem i have. just recently bought a coolstar 400hps, and had placed it in an upstairs closet. had the lights running for about a 3 days, and decided to switch locations after temperatures reached over 95 degrees at some points. had both a window ac running in the room across the grow area, as well as about 5 fans used both for in take and outtake of air. failed.

a change of location helped considerably, the window ac is now in the same room as the grow area, and temperature has decreased to around 70- to 84 degrees.

now the only problem that every time i try to get the humidity up by both a bowl of water and a spray bottle it only seems to help lower the temperature and bring the humidity up around 50-60 %. however after only about 15 minutes it seems like the temperature will only increase to around lower 80's and the humidity will decrease to 40-34%.

very possible that the only reason why it fades so quikly is because of the side entrence wall where the opening is covered by a square fan used to exhaust, and a rotating fan aimed towards the light, bringing in the air from the ac. basically is a slanted wall with a mylar wall floor, and sides. everything is covered and sealed basically besides for the areas where the fans blow in air.

pleeeeeeaaaaasssssssseeeeee help me!

AC will reduce the humidity

I use a mini swamp cooler. It provides cool air and plenty of humidity. My humidity sits around 56% constantly. And my temp never gets above 78.7 F.

If you go to Walgreens or Walmart you can surely buy a humidifier. It will help with both areas, humidity, and temp control.

Best OF Luck,

thank you,

i also switched my shit around a little bit. i placed two square fans one for intake and one on the side wall for outtake. i covered up all my spots that did not have mylar, so its about 96% totally enclosed.

ill get some pics up a soon aswell

Bringing up humidity will lower temperature and the other way around in a given setting.

To raise humidity without any gadgets you can simply hang a towel, or something like that, dipping down into a bucket of water and let one of the oscillating fans blow on it on every cycle or just dedicate one fan to the towel all together if you need more or put up more towels (sails).
We call that the "sail-method" here and for me it too my temps down from about 86 to 78 and the humidity up from 45-61%.
Nothing else changed.
I grow in a 100*100*200 (centimetre) grow tent by the way.

so basically after many many days, weeks, months of seed research finally made the decision to go for a 10 pack of barneys 8-ball kush, as well as low life's lowryder x ak-47.

seriously pumped for the automatic flowering, i think it will be a good learning process, plus it will only take 56 days from germination to harvest.

tell me what ya think!

The towel wick humidifier is a great idea, it basically is a homemade contraption that almost perfectly replicates the water walls you would see in a commercial greenhouse setting. Very nice, I love people that use their heads for something other than a hat rack.:rasta:

allllrighty then, so the water wall idea seemed to help out the plant wonderfully. decided to have the ac pumping to 85 degrees, which has been pretty much the exact temperature of the grow space. the lowest the humidity has reached was 40 and the highest of 58.

plants looking pretty good so far, been using the natural earth natural nutrient, checking the ph every 2 days when ever i water the girl (hopefully)

since i am only growing the one seed i had this basically the trial run. if this baby happens to be a female, ill wait till 12 12 to purchase more seeds offline. however if it is a male, chuck it, and buy some autoflowering seeds to help make up for lost time.
