hey stinky attic i was wondering if i should purposely hermaphrodite and isolate a plant from each crop? because i like having spare seeds and the fact that they might hermaphrodite in seed or be all females that sounds astonoshing and less hassle havin 1 plant then 2 if your seeding right? also i heard low ryders were unclonable? i read a different thread about feminized being unclonable and you said impossible because then the pot would have roots, just curious maybe low ryder clones have a VERY low sucess rate or something? idk and if you could check out my other threads to it would be helpful, i am growing 7 schwag plant it was ment to be one lol i explain in a different post, and i will post my pics of the yields/ plant size! Peace out.:rastasmoke:

I'm not sure what you are getting at about feminized being uncloneable; LOWRYDER is because it flowers on age rather than photoperiod, but those are 2 different things entirely. Regular plants from 'feminized' seed, as long as they are not an autoflower that has been feminized, will clone up just fine for ya.
As for force-herming to make a seed backup, those seeds will be feminized 'S1' seeds. That means that it is the first 'SELFED' generation, and since there is no male in the cross, and the 'default setting' for organisms with an XY chromosome sex determination system is female, because you have to have a Y for male, and it only comes from other male organisms, all your seeds will be female.
To answer if that is a good idea, I'll say it's not a bad one at all. I also like to make sure I have backed up my favorite genetics in seed form. What I would suggest is to take clones for your favorite female and flower a very small rooted clone or 2 form her, in something like a large cardboard box under 1-2 small cfls with a small fan blowing around in there and the box not airtight- stuff it in a closet with the fan and light plugged into a timer, leave the box slightly open, close the closet door. Set the timer to 12/12 for about 2 weeks, then switch it to 'random' or just make up some crazy light schedule... You'll see nanners in a week or so. You don't need to worry abotu putting on a lot of bud, so you don't need a lot of light either, and since you are TRYING to force herms, you can do everything wrogn in this little box short of killing the plant.
Good luck!

awesome, and wat i meant by that unclonable feminized was that i remember in another thread you said it was impossible for a feminized normal plant to be cloned because the original plant would have to be rootless... But that low ryder information is interesting, not gonna grow it though.. if i am gonna get caught at all im goin out with a big bang hehe :P

I'm unclear still where I said that, because feminized plants have roots too... find the link and I will explain it to you, because I think you may have misinterpreted something.

I understand it, that if the plant had roots that the clone should be able to root if you applied the rooting stuff right and i was posting that to kinda go with any reason why you can't grow low ryder because i saw it on a seedbank that low ryders un clonable and you should save all your seeds from it to plant more, but you answered my question about all auto flower plants like that, btw... so if a plant has ruderalis or w/e in it and the genes from it are more dominant that means its gonna auto flower right? just curious.

the link... its somewhere in strains and seeds... i was reading that for a long time before i registered, it was the first site that came up on google and im always a fan of forums :)

Cool.
I suspect the autoflower gene is a recessive, and an F1 hybrid of auto x standard would yield non-autoflowering offspring, but the F2 would yield 25% autoflowering (double recessive). I don't know for certain though. If you make autoflower seeds, make sure BOTH parents actually EXHIBIT the autoflowering trait.

btw what does f1 and f2 mean? s1 means self as you said, but if i took to s1s and hybrided would that make an s2? and is that kind of how it goes for f1's and f2's?

like if i took 2 hermies from the s1 since they only make hermies and females i understand, and the 2 hermies like pollenated each other without pollenating itself then would it be s2?

I think you need to do some research before you ask a bunch of questions and expect the answers without any efforts of your own. This sites full of info so take the time and research some of your questions for yourself. (sorry you sound like a 14yr old who just found out the beautiful world of cannabis who's trying to grow). Just take your time and good luck.
I'm very happy stinky is here but her services should not be taken for granted or taken advantage of. You the best stinkster

Ha I thought timers with "random" settings were only sold around these strange parts.. So now I know how to herm..

oh wow timers with a random setting that would be nice i havent come across one yet, ill just probably give it wierd light schedules myself, like 6 hours, rest 4, 8 hours, no light for 14 hours, 12 hours of light or something.. lol

If you search the threads, there was a recent one about random settings and the variety available. You need to read more than just one though! You might check out a few people that sound pretty relieable and in the same sphere as you and check their postings and threads! The answers are there and it is a lot easier to ask a question looking for answers. But, when you do the research, you learn a lot more! It is understandable that you want to hurry, but you'll not regret the time you spent in research! Good luck and looking for your grow log! that is where you get a lot of questions answered, as well! And generous input! As per my discovery!

F1 hybrid - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F1_hybrid)
^^Here. Wikipedia ftw. Also enter other terms you need defined. It's complicated, and I've got carpal tunnel, so I think you are better off reading it elsewhere.
