well here it is....the thread to test yield of the Procyon...The lil storks have graced me with some SNLxNH(f)...since she can get to be a HUGE girl...I have germed 4 seeds....still not sure if I am gonna do 2 or 3 plants in 3 gal pots....
what I need to know, is how I should properly LST/SCROG these girls...gotta good 2x3 area, and with the other grow going, wanted to do a single procyon grow with yield being the primary focus....that way we can get a good idea if LEDs can grow out a bigg'un....
wish me luck....and ALL info/ideas for how to do the area would be awesome....Im liking the lead weight/fishin line idea....thanks bozo, i think....

Glad to see you are continuing to try, and want to wish you the best of luck this grow.

I am pulling for you and will be a convert if you can get the yeild to an acceptable level. I don't think you will get 4 oz. a plant like I have on some, but I would convert if you got 2 oz. or better.

Weedhound did point you in the right direction on the LST/Scrog so I wish you the best of luck and I am subscribed. One other thing you started your plants at the exact same time as me so we will be able to do side by side compareisons along the way.

I just remembered that I once read where someone made a frame out of 2x2s, he made a square then placed screws every 3" or 4" apart, He then used 12 gauge fencing tie down wire and wound the wire around the screws to make the screen, He then cut 4 more lengths of 2x2 to the level he wanted the screen to be at, and screwed them to the screen as legs thus eliminating holes in the drywall.

This might work for you situation.

Good Luck SnS:thumbsup:

I have some questions I hope you do not mind....

What is your plans for feeding schedule?

How long do you plan on VEG?

Do you think to see the Procyons full potential you should put max plants under them?

What medium are you planning on using?

Well You guys know what's up

Good Luck :jointsmile::jointsmile::jointsmile:

SnSstealth

GL...plan on vegging as long as i need too...depends on when the strains is where I want it.....and typically for yield SCROG with 2 plants can yield as much as many SOG plants....and medium will be good old FFoF after this first transplant....

I though you were not a fan of that soil?

That soil will give you NUTE burn if you hit them with a little in the first 2 months and a lot of lock out. I had to deal with it my mothers all the fan leaves were burnt bad they are finally coming back after being out of Ocean Forrest. It took a good Min to nurse them back. I'm using Sunshine #4 and 1 what a difference great water retention and the plants seem very happy. You know what's up I just thought we shot that stuff down in a forum you started?

GL420:jointsmile::jointsmile::jointsmile:

The PH is all messed up with that soil once you add shit it all gets thrown off In my experiences. Also the biggest problem I seen was Lock Out.. My hairs on my arm are standing up just thinking about it:(:(. When I had the Problem I went to the HYDRO store and I spoke to the head tech @ Hydro Farm very educated Cathy. She knew of the problem and in a flier I read from FF it said if you DO NOT want to feed them use the soil mixes they make or Go with the NUTES instead W/O there soils but not both.

SnSstealth
06-28-2008, 01:44 AM
our did GREAT in the FFoF...just not seeds starting in it....I transplanted last grow into PURE FFoF at about the same time and they went NUTS...just gave em too many extra nutes...image reaper and WH ....many more on here agree with me about FF...you just gotta be CAREFUL with the extra nutes....every OTHER feeding, and lowest rec. doseage.....

MVP...in your opinion, given my area, should I make a framed SCREEN, or use fishing leader maybe, and do like a LST/SCROG thing? dunno...small are, with the fabled SNLxNH...so i do wanna maximize, I am gonna throw 1-2 SNLxNH into the other room with the other strains as well for comparison....but i definitely wanna optimize these SNLs under the single procyon...new to the technique, new to ask ya man:thumbsup:

new=knew...and stuff

i just did LST before....i wanna run a SCROG, just kinda perplexed at how i should frame the screen, baling wire or fishing leader, how to make the legs to support the frame, all while not sacrificing too much room...so 1x2s for frame and legs? one screen only is good? or two...ick...brain hurts...gonna smoke a bowl and go read the DIYs and opie and MVPs threads...n such.....

With a Scrog you want it at least two feet high right?

I would take 1" by 2" Frame out the top and then lay the screen on top and just bang another one by two over the screen. As far as legs depending on space you probably could use the 1'By2"s Or just mount to the walls if you can catch two sides.... I seen a god thread with Scrog grows and the guy said to be sure to get the plants under before they grow to big... Very important he had issues with a few from that.

think I am gonna do the 1x2 thing...some basic screen from home depot or something...I can get this...stay tuned for a fluffy flat screen!

One key to SCROG is light penetration. Pay attention to it. Also using a 1x2 opening you should do great. Big enough to make it easy, tight enough to support the ladies. I got some stucco repair screen thingee at De Pot and it worked perfect.

Also don't tie them down too long; I made that mistake in Flower and I got a bunch of leafy bud and it sucked. It smoked just the same but looked like crap and was a slight bummer. At any rate, I'm following the thread 2x week and I'll try to be there for ya Amigo.

MVP

For the record, I have gone with SCROG when using clones but not seeds. That said and assuming similar expected results, here are some thoughts.

Place the screen 8-12 inches above the pots. I topped mine just before placing the screen in the room to get them bushy.

Choose a screen with 1 in x 2 in or 2 in x 2 in openings. I used a wire screen but next time I'll try the plastic animal fencing stuff. Some people actually tie a screen out of string or masonry twine. Just make sure the openings are not too small.

Weave them through the screen during veg and the first 2 weeks or so of flower, but after that stop messing with them. (I tied them back into the 4 week range and they got leafy on me). In other words don't be afraid to let them stretch after 2-3 weeks of 12/12.

That's about the basics as I know it. Maybe Opie has additional keys for ya. Let em know what else is on your mind...

Don't waste your money on a portable A/C IMO they are a waste. Unless you want half the amount that the box reads. I had a 12,500 Btu. Did not do shit I put in one 1100 Btu wall unit big HUGE difference. I setup a room for a buddy about 8Yrs ago and what we did was just run an exhaust with the room being cool. The only downside is you blow out all the cold air so the A/C runs constant....

Yeah they should definetly cool down one of those beautifuly.... The HPS I have 2 11000Btu's w/ the Compressors going on and off all day set up to 80".... It has to be 160" Outside the room no BS. I have a spray booth and that goes as high as 180 but very very dry. Outside The room has to be at least 160

I have to get the heat out. LEO"S have been flying by me like crazy I have 3 Gorillas on my block and a patch of green Parks Dept Land at the end of the street... If they are throwing out the Infa Red I have no exhaust. So if anything the room would look like a Walk In Freezer box... LOL

Hey SnS, great work with the L.E.D's, i've been following your logs for awhile... I'm going to be getting a procyron in a few days and i have a small set up like your doing in this thread, except as of right now i have no intake or exhaust, just a few small fans to keep the temp downand air moving... I was thinking that exhaust and intake fans wouldnt be needed if the temp can be controlled, which got me thinking about CO2... do you think that i can get away with no intake/exhaust with the led so long as temp and co2 levels are maintained? Sorry if this is the wrong thread for the question... first post lol

great question AND right thread...lol i dont have any intake/exhaust in this grow either...just the corner of a closet with that lil fan there...kinda point the central air vent in there...keeps around 80-81...ill worry a lil in flowering:jointsmile: IMHO CO2 would help handle a few degrees hotter temps...

WT & Doughboy, spent hours reading your threads and attached ones--very interesting! I haven't set up yet, since, i plan to do outdoor and indoor, only if necessary-due to climate! But, the LED's make it look like I should just gro indoor, by reading all your info. However, I have outdoor on my mind! Thank you so much for sharing your info and everyone else that has input and the way you have integrated their info! Will continue read and enjoyment. someday, soon I expect I'd just better start again for myself. But, these LED's sound like a great way to go! Like you, I don't want a lot of extra stuff I won't use, so I'll wait for your perfect LED with result! You have so much work and research in this! Good luck with this one, its' looking good! GL, painretreat is an AWESOME lady, and I think all she meant by her post was that I haven't updated lately, nothing realted to you:thumbsup: I do enjoy my communications with both of you, so I hope this kills any spat that may ensue.
Love the pic, she looks like a SCROG dream plant....there are 0% CFLs in this grow, still on pure LED power on both the grows...

On to the dilemma......

While I REALLY want to do the SCROG, seeing how current plans seem to be moving to CA,I am probably gonna put this SNLxNH in the other grow room (Episode 3) So that I can use this light for breeding/seeds. Want to get these 2 crosses done to take to CA...I plan on breeding UK (Ultimate Kush, may change the name) with the SB and the HKxBI...I know it will take a yearish, but i am a Kush FANATIC, and these two strains (thanks stork!!!!) continue to amaze me...ESPECIALLY the HKxBI...insane vigor, resistance to almost everything they have gone through, (the over watering, and yellowing issue they had in the beginning) and they BOTH reek already!!! So far, I got my eye on 2 each of them for breeding.

Giro, the panels are a waste of money, we tried those already... With LEDs, the footprint isnt great, so One procyon will do great, but only for a 3x3 area...IMHO

One question SnSstealth.
Im looking into starting an LED OP
But I am nowhere near affording the LED system u showcased in your threads.
So I surfed the web looking for some LED lighting systems, and I found one set that fits my economic status..
Check them out and let me know what u think, I was also planning on buying a couple red panels and some blue, while I'm still searching for a green panel.

hello dr,

Well...where do we start...the "china panel" LEDs that you are looking to acquire are not very capable(polite as i can be) at growing high light plants. the few grows ive seen using them were minimal results at best and a 1 1/2" tall seedling looking thing after 3+weeks at worst. you can use them as additional light if you have a small grow space. use the blue in veg and the red in flower...which brings me to your other issue...you prob. wont find a green panel as green wavelengths are barely used by plants according to studies of plant photosynthesis. there are some other nm up for debate still but the green range is widely thought of as unnecessary.

home grown lights dot com has some in the 40 to 60 dollar range also that have shone promise.

Good work on these threads! I am looking into a 300W LED grow light composed of 288 LED lights. Here is the configuration I want to use:
Red 620 to 630 nm = 18lights
Red 630 to 640 nm = 34lights
Red 640 to 650 nm = 68lights
Red 640 to 660 nm = 136lights
Blue 460 nm = 32 lights

the total LED power is of 300W, so there is a little more than 1W per LED.
Is it a better idea to distribute them equally along each of these wavelenghts?

If I distribute them equally, I get this spectral distribution:
spectrum Pictures, spectrum Images, spectrum Photos, spectrum Videos - Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting (http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=28lgfuv&s=4)

sorry for the long link, but that was the fastest way for me to post that image ;)
