Hi, I was drug tested today and I ate a sandwich which had quite a bit of poppy seeds on the roll for lunch 4 hours prior to being tested. Is there any chance my test could show a false positive with some sort of opiate?? All help is appreciated. Thank you!

Captain Jack's Restaurant out on Hwy 139 (great food, incidentally) had to pull their sinfully scrumptious poppy seed cake from the menu because a trucker tested positive! :( (Just run it through a search engine and you'll get LOTS of results - all saying "Sorry! You may test positive".
The up side is that there is a LOT of evidence on the web that proves that poppy seeds can give a false positive. You should have NO problem getting evidence when you plead your case. Stick with sesame seeds next time!

I have 4 felonies and a misdemeanor. You think they'll believe me when I say I ate a poppy seed roll or you think they'll call me a liar and say I'm a fiend who couldn't lay off the ope?
It's a GC/MS test I believe. I've read some conflicting things that say a GC/MS test can't differentiate from some sort of molecular pattern in opium/heroin vs a tasty poppy pastry, and I've also read some things that say it can.
Thanks for the response though, but does anyone know for sure if I'm fucked or not?
