About how tall should i let my babies get before re-potting them to final 5gal buckets or can i use 3 gal. they are in a 36" tall space and thats where i need them to stay. they are about 12" now in veg. and does it make a difference between square or circle pots? also when should i switch to 12/12 light?
just need some opinions here. i did a hydro grow once upon a time. it was my first grow. i couldnt complete it cause of some trouble somebody brought to mi casa. im in soil now they look good. ill post pics when i get a better camera.

Strains really vary for height. I would let them get about another 8 or 10 inches. What kind of lights?

7 27watt cfl's. each cfl puts out 1600 lumes =ing somewhere around 10900 lumes. i have a 250 watt hps that i am currently tryin to use in my small grow box? the temp seems to get way over 90. im currently lookin for a bake-a-round to make a cooltube for my box.

3 gal should be fine for a final pot. Lots of drainage?
They will double in height or more when flowering so your 12" will be around 24". Subtract pot height and light distance requirements and LST or Scrog become good ideas to think about.
The plant does not know square from cicular so any pot will do....hehe

I love your avatar blink. thats comedy!!! anyway thnx for the help. I didnt think pot shape made a difference. and i seen some pretty big plants in 3gal buckets. cfl's dont get too hot but my growspace is small. ive already started the FIM process. I am tryin to keep from the LST if i can, but will if i need too. its jus some bag seed. so i duuno the strain. i have 3 but 1 looks to be male. im gon give it 1 more day. 1 is female, and the other hasnt shown its sex yet.. hopin for a female. does anyone know when males start droppin pollen? when should i remove this possible male from the rest of the plants?

i just came across the perfect grow cabinent. well at least for 1 plant and my 250w hps. its about 5' tall 18" wid and about 15-18" in depth. if i do it right i might be able to get 2 plants in there.
i am currently fixin the cabinent up ill post pics a lil later.
tell me what ya think of these new cab. dimensons and its space for 2 plants and a 250 hps?
thnx in advance!!!:D

Here are a few pics of the new cabinent i found earlier this morning. It was black so i painted the outside of the cab white and just lined the inside with one of those security blankets from the Wal. Got a peice of wood from Lowes and screwed it to the back of the cab. Put a hole in the top right corner and used the old back piece as the new front door. I put a hole in the bottom left corner of the front piece and ran about 5' of ducting from it The exhaust fan in the upper right corner is a 4.75", 85 cfm cpu cooling fan from The Shack. I have a 250w HPS in it to set it all off. It gets about 85 at the hottest point of the day then down to around 77. Until the lights go out, then it gets down to about 72.
Now I have a quick ?. - Can I use this HPS for the rest of the veg process if I use the same 17/7 light schedule? Then 16/8, I do this to train the plant for the less light for the 12/12 period. I only do the light thing for 4-5 days then I go 12/12 until harvest.
OPINIONS! And INPUT Please!
Thnx,

Pics for last post
And another thing. Should the passive intake be larger or smaller than the active exhaust?

vegging with an HPS is not very energy efficient.
You can veg under CFL's or Flouro's quite nicely and by far it's cheaper on electricity.
You should be able to fit 2-6 plants in that space depending on strain of course and how long you want to veg etc.
Cab looks good though, temps seem manageable.
No need for 17/7 etc - 18/6 or 24/0 will do you fine. The switch to 12/12 should be when plants are 1/2 the height you want them to finish at.
Have fun..

thnx blink. i had another question though. my temps are managable but do you think that if i were to add another passive intake or maybe another exhaust fan, that my temps would be closer to the 72-75 range thats ideal?
Just a thought on how to lower themp a lil.

What are the ambient temps in the room that you are drawing air from?
Take you thermometer or hygrometer whatever you use and measure the temps outside the "room".
You can only get your temperatures down to the temp of the air you are pulling in.
Hence, if it is 80F outside the room you won't get your room below 80F ever...(without an airconditioner)

thnx blink,
my temps in the room the cab is in are around 76-79 during the hottest part of the day and at night it gets down around 66-68. I do have a lil swamp cooler i can put on the floor beside the intake. do you think that would help?
