and, is headed to an area near YOU ! :giggity: ... got completely wiped out in a big NorCal wildfire last week, lost everything :wtf: ... escaped with 5 guns, 4 pairs of jeans, 3 selections of seeds, 2 ounces of 'NorCal Daddy's Girl', and a partridge in a pear tree :D ... ordered a new laptop, and plan to post up some interesting pics in the near future ... will be leaving town in a couple weeks, hopefully, and taking an extended nationwide 'roadtrip' to clear my head ... this is second time in my life, to be wiped out, and starting over, no biggie, life goes on ("within you, and without you"), for you Beatles fans  ... I'm so sorry you lost everything not once but twice!! That is extremely fucked up.

God, I hate how these Cali fires won't stop...there was one on the mountains one city away from me yesterday in So. Cali (Ventura). The lights in the area even started to flicker.

I feel somebody hates Cali and wants to burn it to ground.

Not cool.

Man... im VERY very sorry for you... it must be awful to lose everything in such ways... i wish you good luck, and that you be ok as soon as possible.

BTW, if you want to go to a far place, youre welcome to Brasil! Here there is plenty of fertile land, much sun, enough rain, cheap(er) gas... the government here does not meddle in peoples lifes as much as the usa government, there is no fear of terrorist attacks here... also there are no wildfires, no earthquakes (usually), no hurricanes (usually)... and people here love foreign ones... (even americans). So, if you want to change your life, you are welcome to come here!

Dont you ever think about talking badly of my city! :wtf:
Its a warzone if you live in the favelas [ghettos]... but the problem of Rio is much more negative propaganda than anything else... i live here and it is NOT nearly as bad as people (who does not live here) thinks, and FAR LESS bad as the media shows it...

Anyway the Rio, or Sao Paulo (which is worst than rio) are not the only cities of Brasil, you know... there are plenty of good cities to live here... is not nice to think badly about one country because of a couple of cities of it...

And its specially bad when done by a native, and in a foreign forum... at least I am patriot... (at least in this forums).

I agree sao paulo is also bad... as far as places to live that's all taste... and all I said is that rio is a warzone, and the army doing security be it the favelas (which ARE in rio) only adds to my argument... but before the army went in it was still bad, for like the last 15 years...

And its specially bad when done by a native, and in a foreign forum... at least I am patriot... (at least in this forums).

well... personally, I don't think patriotism is a virtue... i analyse facts and make my opinions (ie; do you think brazil's team is the greatest after what you saw on wednsday???)

Not to get off subject, but if I was totally burned out and had to start over, I'd definitely take a trip to Brasil. I knew a Brasilian guy at my last job who was always trying to get people to go with him on his vacations back home. A couple of guys went with him over Carnaval and said that everything he had told them was true --- great beaches, great parties, beautiful girls, and all of it very inexpensive by American standards. They had a great time. This guy has a son here with his ex-wife and wants to be around while his boy finishes up school, so he has a few years to go. But he is planning to keep working here in the US as a software engineer, and then head back home comparatively rich. He would probably be pretty wealthy anyway, because his family is well off.

oh yeah.. it's a great place to visit... but alas, there's not much money to be made... hance all the violence..but it's just another typical 3rd world country... I always go (as I have real estate there) but I'll only live there once I've accumulated money and lived in a gated community with the rich folk... and guns lots of guns...

anyway I feel I've thread jacked.. if you want to discuss this further, I'd be more than happy to on another thread...

hope to get out of here in the next couple weeks, as soon as I can get some things taken care of ... ordered a new laptop, and am currently trying to choose between WI-FI access (fast, cheap), or cellular internet access (slower, expensive, but more secure) ... OR, ideally, just find my rich widow-woman (with cable internet and a basement with a tall ceiling) :computerlove1:

Modern laptops virtually ALL come with built-in wi-fi capabilities and you can just poach wifi from highway rest stops, office buildings, colleges, and coffee shops. That's what I do anyway! (I need to buy my neighbors a better router lol!)

As for the suga'baby you are after... my neighborhood is one of turn-of-the-century Grand Victorians with 10-12 foot ceilings, inhabited by proper and somewhat stuffy ladies who seem sometimes to forget that their mansions are perched on a ridge overlooking just one more depressed New England mill town whose heyday came and went a lifetime ago, and the very houses that they inhabit are simply the flotsam left behind when that wave crested and broke.
To the point: I'll help you look ;)

Well I hope all works out well for you and you are able to put your life together with ease...

Well, this makes it official.

I'll be murdering my husband day after tomorrow. I've long been madly in love with you, Reap. I'm quite serious. It doesn't get any nicer than you. And quite frankly, Dave is due for a killin' anyway. He's been a real pain this week.

Not sure whether I'd qualify as wealthy. And I don't have a basement. But we'll get you any type of Internet you want, and you won't find any taller ceilings--or more welcoming arms--than the ones in this part of Texas.

Dave, been nice knowin' you.

-Build a 3 story addition to contain 2.5 new bathrooms, and do ALL the plumbing from scratch
-Move the stairwells
-Give up and treat it like the scruffy rental it is
-Invite Reaper to spend the summer

The thing that is the most frustrating is that QUITE A FEW of these 800 fires have been started by....PEOPLE ......DOING IDIOT THINGS....from throwing lit cigerettes out the window to waiting until it's as dry as a bone before deciding to mow......and starting a fire with the lawn mower. All day I hear about complete boneheads and it makes me want to give BG's statement about "folks who need killing" some serious mulling. :wtf:

Yes....a few of them were started by lightening but the honest majority were done by people being either lazy or sloppy....or even ON PURPOSE.:mad::mad:

Had a good fire start accross the road at our neighbors because he was "checking his well pump" with a lit cigerette in the middle of 2 foot dry grass in july. Had the helicopter set down in our arena to rest in the middle of the fight.....great to watch but thank GOD for the firefighters!!!

It is tuff, everything is gone, except the paper work, which is holding you back! So very sorry to hear you've lost it all. Sometimes a Fresh Start over isn't so bad!

Perhaps you ought to go where it has already burned! ( oops, back home and start over)! Have a ball in the meantime. Hopefully, on the flip side, you can enjoy a new motel each night with meals paid by your insurance premiums! Make the best of it!
