Hi,
I'm about to end college and I'm in a rut at work...I feel like I'm going nowhere... I go days where I don't sleep for 24-48 hours straight or I sleep maybe five hours a night when I can catch some ZZs...I also feel when I smoke I can pay attention to things better and get more motivated...Well here go my questions:
1.) Can you get medical marijuana for ADD?
2.) Do most doctors on the calNORML site do evaluations if you don't have medical records and is it even possible to get a prescription without prior medical records? (I don't have insurance so I don't go to a doctor regularly.)
3.) Should I be embarrassed to talk about any of this when I make an appointment?
4.) I live with my mom and she doesn't approve of marijuana, even for medical use... how can I sneak this around her or at least try to talk some sense into her?

Thanks for reading and if you can answer these questions I'd ever be so grateful!
~Laura

What's up Laura, I'm in SoCal too - Downtown LA. I got my prescription about a week ago and it was the easiest thing I've ever done. I'm pretty sure that for no previous medical records you can easily say that you have ADD or insomnia. I would recommend Sona Patel at doc420.com. She works off of Melrose and she'll make your appointment last 10 minutes as long as you tell her that you've tried prescription pills for your ailment and you are unwilling to take them again (so get your story straight before you get there). So that answers number one and number two. You won't even need to bring insurance or records up so number three isn't a problem. And let's see... don't even try and talk sense into your mom, you just need to get your system down. When I was smoking out of a bong I used fans, odor removers, sploofs, etc. Now that I'm smoking out of a vaporizer though, there's pretty much no odor and it's totally inconspicuous. If you really wanna step your game up, try a vape.

Hey Ethan,
Thanks for the response...yeah I live in Oxnard (one hour south of Santa Barbara, one hour north of Santa Monica) I don't have a car so I can't go down to the place you recommended. I'm so excited though because I already made an appointment at a place 15 minutes away for Thursday...It's $250 start up fee but they said I can put it on a payment plan and it's worth it...also they said I need medical records to get it for a year...so I am making an appointment with a regular doctor to so I can discuss my insomnia with him and get my record and get it for a year. I'll tell him I don't want to take anything with chemicals, which is true, and see what happens. The cool thing is I can still have it for three months for now, without the records!!

All I can say is that I'm glad to be cali-grown because of these awesome laws and I'm gonna keep on stoning out. :rastasmoke:

P.S. Update: I have a plan just to get THC pills...tell my mom their vitamins...it'll be all good!!!

Yes, it is possible to get "legal" without medical records. Cheaper clinics are best.
Yes, you can get it for ADD. Several guys on this board have.

Don't be embarrassed- you are seeking help for a medical condition. You are merely choosing a safe, time-tested herbal remedy over "chemical wonders" that are basically "speed".

You need to call the places and find out what their prices are. The cheaper the rate, the less "picky" the doctors are. Places like Medi-Cann have a very high approval rate .

For ADD, your school records might even do! I work in Special Ed as an aide and I know any child with ADD has it documented 10 ways from Sunday! You still friendly with any of your old counselors/teachers?

Last of all, Mom! Get the printer warmed up, deary- You just hit the jackPOT! LOL :D

OK, that should give you some hard-core "ammo". Now, Mom is going to object to the smell. Get a vaporizer! They have virtually no smell! They use less pot and also are WAY easier on the lungs. You can cook with the left -overs (nice little buzz)! I would suggest a Vapor Brothers- small, quiet, well built, and about 1/4 the price of a Volcano Vaporizer.

I am very low income (love my job, but the paycheck sucks!) and getting a VB was the best thing I've done in a while. There is a poll going on here about which is the favorite/best vaporizer- the VB is coming in at #2 (price- $150), the Volcano is #1 ( about $600  ). Check it out.

And, dear, your sleep habits worry me. Please get legal and find (and grow) a nice heavy indica to help you sleep! I was a bio major first time around in college and disrupted sleep patterns can lead to all kinds of hassles, physically and mentally. I know you're young and strong, but it does take a toll.

You might get Mom to take a peek at the link in my sig- she might want to make an appointment with you after she sees my lists!

Well- this has gotten a bit long, so I'll just say, welcome again!- Granny:hippy:

Hey thanks for your message, Granny! I throughly enjoyed it...Of course, I want to go to the cheapest physician that I can find but I don't have a car so that limits my choice to where the bus can go and it's only one physician, and he's $250 plus needs medical records and no return on my cash if I don't get my records in 3 months...Maybe I'm looking for the physician in the wrong place?
I used CalNORML and that's the only place that's close according to them...and they also say the distributor of the cannibis lives 45 minutes away from me...I don't know how I'm gonna get away with that if my mom drives me there...
If any of you are better at searching...I live in Ventura County!!!
Well off to work! Talk to you guys in a bit!

P.S. Been up 34 hours straight and counting! Just one of dem days...

You can definatley get a med card for ADD. I have it too and have medical proof of everything. I've had plenty of riddlin prescribed to me as a kid, lots of therapy and testing. I still havent gone to riverside to see the doc yet though. I plan to sometime in the near future.

Marijuana makes me more in control of my finances and things I have to remember to do. Absolutley the best medicine for ADD!

I know...when I smoke, I usually feel like I wanna get shit done and get my priorities straight, which is a usual problem I have.

But I also do need it for my insomnia, it's starting to get unbearable. When I smoke, I sleep like a baby.
