Hi everyone,
I am in place to start an internship with a Fortune 500 company pending I pass a drug screen. I took it last week with LabCorp/ChoicePoint. I smoked for the first time in 5 and half months, 25 days prior to the test. I also stupidly took a tylenol 3 (with codeine in it) and 20 mg of oxycodone about 4 and half days prior to the test. In my defense, I didn't know I would be getting drug tested when I consumed these substances, and would never have done so otherwise.
Anyways the day of the test I took 4 aspirin 8 hours before the test, a couple of B-complex vitamins an hour before it, and drank probably 125 ounces of water and 54 ounces of Gatorade in the hours leading up to it. However I was on adderall leading up to the test because I am prescribed it.
When I took the test, my pee was pretty watery, with a yellow tinge to it. They sent off my sample immediately and said that I'd hear from a doctor if I tested positive for any substances (adderall-amphetamines). It's been 3 days since the test, and today my company got impatient with LabCorp and dug up my results. They said I tested positive for amphetamines, and that the lab was running the sample through a couple more "confirmation" tests to "see if there was anything else".
So my question is: Do you think that these "confirmation tests" are specimen validity tests (I'm almost positive my sample is diluted)? Or do you think they are sticking it into a more sensitive GC/MS test? And if they are using a GC/MS confirmation test, can they only test for the amphetamines, or can they see if I test positive for other drugs that I tested negative for on the EMIT?
I called LabCorp myself to see if I could provide them my prescription information so they didn't run me through the GC/MS gauntlet and find something they didn't before. But they said the test results hadn't come in yet and a doctor would call me first thing if I was testing positive for anything. So I'm guessing my company dug really deep.
Sorry this is kind of a long and complex situation and it's eating me alive, if anyone can weigh in and give me an honest assessment of what they think is going on I'd really appreciate it. Thanks
