What is that white powdery looking shit on a few of my stems? And is it harmful? If so, how do I get rid of it? Thanks. And I also have a lot of ants on a couple of my girls. Is that a problem?

mmm..i had something similiar to this on my plant.
on the base stem, it was sort of stringy, like a very fluffy, thick spider web.

although im not exactly sure what it is, i just brushed it off and that was the end of that.

if you are talking about very fine white hairs they are natural and should be there like on tomatoes.

And I've seen some kind of white looking bugs hanging around also. Maybe it's coming from them? I just hope that its nothing major.

i had some tiny red bugs on my plants and i used a c02 air duster (keyboard cleaner) to thoroughly flush them away.

Its most often a sign of mildew, a fungus that thrives where there is poor air circulation, weak plants and too much moisture in the air or in the soil from poor drainage.

Either way, cut off the worst of the infected leaves and then wash any remaining foliage with a mild Ivory soap solution and rinse with water. You can make your own indoor fungicide spray by adding one tablespoon of baking soda to one gallon of water and then add one teaspoon of vegetable oil to make the mix stick to the plant leaves.

GOOD LUCK

if you identify it as Powdery Mildew i would suggest Serenade. It is a bacterial spray that works really good if applied frequently. No danger really in using it, except the potent smell:)

If you see it coming back, maybe look into a Sulfur burner. I had powdery mildew in my grow room and could not get rid of all of it. It is VERY PERSISTENT. I have not used a burner yet, but it came highly recommended if the room os of a larger size. Good luck!

My plants are outside, in the ground.

it look like this? It's only on the stem, and it looks nothing like that. If my plant looked like that, I'd have a heart attack. lol!

sounds like you have white flies. an insecticidal soap should clear that up

I think your're right. I saw some tiny white bugs hanging around the exact same spot as the powdery stuff. Is it their SHIT or something?

Serenade is the SHIT exactly like Allrollsin said to use for the fungus.. It is not concentrated and ready to go. GH makes a powder solution that comes in a small bag and your local HYDRO store should have some type of concentrated spray that's organic which you can dilute.

The great thing about Serenade you don't have to go to the HYDRO store Walmart carries it....

I think from now on with all my grows I will use this from the beginning rather then waiting for it to come along and then have to battle it....

Good Luck GL420:jointsmile::jointsmile::jointsmile:
