Any ideas on pot propper uppers? I thought about bolting 4, 1x1'' wood squares on the bottom on all sides, but then the metal might rust...

I hope the metal in question would just be from the bolts. Stainless steel would solve that problem, as would nylon bolts (find them at casa de POT). Instead of wood blocks, if you can cut chunks of PVC for 'feet' and bolt them on, or another type of plastic, cool! Then they are easier to wash. But wood is totally fine.
My choice to prop up pots cheaply is found in the masonry section of home depot- 1x1" wood grade stakes. A bundle is cheap, and you can lay pairs of them on the floor to support your pots and allow them to drain freely.
Good call on getting them off the floor!

yes, just the bolts. but true and true, I could do that. they are to sit in a 12'' tray, so this is a way to hike them off the bottom of the tray. so any runoff wont be slurped back up.
But i do know of those stakes! maybe setting 2 of them parallel the pot could sit on that in the tray...
