Well I guess I should say hello to everyone since I've been hiding out reading for the past 3 months, and this is my first post. :D

This is my first grow, and hopefully all goes well. I got the two babies from the Local club about three weeks ago. The one in the black pot is Super Silver Haze and the one in the brown pot is Purple Erple. Both of them had nice roots when I brought them home.

Well I guess I should probably start off by describing the area where I'll be growing. I purchased a really nice armoire from craigslist for $50. Inside growing area is 4' H x 3'6" W x 2' D. I haven't put any reflective material up yet, spent my last paycheck on my lighting and ventilation. HeH, I bought a 4" vortex and a 6" duct booster for $100 also from craigslist so that I can cool the 6" air cooled hood that I bought from Green Coast Hydro for $100. The lighting is a 400W HPS ballast, I got 4 of these commercial lighting fixtures for $45 for craigslist. The bulb I'm using is a 400W MH Conversion also from GC Hydro. The cab stays open all day at the moment because I ran outta money last week and still need to purchase ducting when I get more money.

I planted the babies in some soil that I got from my cousin. I dunno exactly what he has put in the soil but he also grows so I trust his experience. I do know that there are nutes in the soil. I had 'em under a 175W MH for about a week until I got a job and bought the other lighting.

I know I'm kinda all over the place with trying to explain everything so I guess I'll just post some pics so everyone can see what the hell I've been talking about.

I'm too lazy to put descriptions for these pics so I'm just going to post the links. Also for the dial-up people, I'm sorry these pics are really Hi-Res. Next post I'll put up Hi-Res and Lo-Res.

SSH is def a strain I'd like to try out. I love Shanti's work, his "shit" is outstanding and I got some critical mass freebies along with that order waiting to be popped. Heard good things about Green House's SSH too. Any idea which yours is? Either way, plants look happy. Keep us updated.

Actually I don't know which of the two the SSH is, I wasn't aware that there were different ones but next time I stop by the club I'll try to remember to ask.

As far as I know Shanti is solely responsible for any SSH available, but as he and green house seed co. went their separate ways I assume the genetics he offers at Mr. Nice are slightly different from what gh is selling.

you could probably throw a CFL down below and use that space as a cloning area.

and don't bother with reflective material, just paint the inside flat white, that'll give you about 90% reflectivity.
mylar would give you about 95% if you get it completely flat against your walls and keep it really clean, flat white paint is way easier to use and to clean and, it's way cheaper.

good luck with your grow, i look forward to watching your progress

Thanks for the suggestions and comments, I appreciate all constructive criticism as well... I was planning on doing something along those lines with the area down below. How much of a difference would there be between flat white paint and some thick white plastic for a reflective surface?

krygods, those are some beautiful plants! Do you have an idea as to how old they are? They are some great looking bushy beauties! I wish my Freeze were as bushy! You also have a great looking cabinet - looks like it may be able to hide in plaint sight, eh? Although it doesn't appear you can grow a large quantity in there, I have always been about quality - mainly because I have never had much quantity though!

I look forward to following your log, bro, and I hope all goes well for you! Good luck!

HeH, thanks... I'm not sure as to how old the plants are to the exact day, only that I have had them for about three weeks and when I bought them they both had fat roots shooting through the bottom of the Rock Wool already. Yea the cab is great, guy I bought it from said he had it custom built for about $1600 LoL. It's solid wood not that cheap ikea shit so it was well well worth the $50 and 20 mile drive.

Well, two nights ago I noticed that some of the lower shoots on the plant were drooping and the leaves were turning a light light greenish yellow color. I had bought a soil test kit earlier in the week that tests for NPK and there is also a PH test. The plants were both fine in P and K but deficient in N so I watered them with 1/4 strength fish emulsion. They look a little greener, anyone that can take a look at the pics below and give me any recommendations if I'm doing anything wrong or if there is something that I should be doing I'd really appreciate it.

Also over the weekend, well on Sunday since I work 6 days a week, I was able to do some work on the cabinet. I took out the old flimsy back piece of wood and replaced it with some 3/4 plywood. Picture 3 and 4 below show the 2 holes that I cut in the floor and ceiling of the cab for the hood ducting. I still have to add venting for the actual inside cabinet itself but I am coming up with on idea that I can cool and also recirculate the air. The last picture is the top of the cabinet where I the the ballast and inline fan. The mylar was so much of a problem putting up but it helps tremendously.

anyone have any suggestions on venting the cabinet?? I'm not sure if i should also use 4" ducting and a 4" fan, would using 4" ducting with a 6" fan cause any serious problems?? the reason i ask is the 4" inline fans are only about 140 or so cfm and the 6" are about 450 cfm...
