View Full Version : 2 years at growing personal...where i'm at
Hello All,
Well here they are,so tell me watcha think. This is my new grow room. These are skunk strain from seeds. The room is 8' long,4' wide,5.5' tall.I got 1-1000watt hps on 12/12 timer.Temps are around 65f at nite, and 83f during the day.I've got like 9 plants flowering in here at the moment.Hoping to soon get a light mover to help cover every square inch of floor space:D...i've upgraded everything since my last grow.My 400w MH is now used for vegging/cloning,and i got this 1000w hps for flowering..No more paper mylar,my walls/floors are now covered in a insulated reflective poly type material.I also added water retaining crystals to my plant's soil.
I can only get my hands on Walmart,or Lowes supplies as far as fert's and nutes are concerned.I've been using Omri fish emulsion,Miracle grow soil & Bloom Booster(green powder),Superthrive,BC Gow (mail order) A.N. Carbo-load(mail order)
I'm still a newbie, but i have no problems with miracle grow soils,I just always start my seeds in jiffy cubes, after a few weeks,i transplant into garden soil...I start my clones in jiffy cubes too, with great success...
Please let me know whatcha think of these newest pics, all critique is welcome...It's been only a couple years since my first grow, and i've learned alot ...especially here at this site!!
ps...I got my hands on that 4' x 50' roll of insulated reflective material for $12.00 at my local auction...I got enough left over to build 2 more grow rooms...auctions are great!!!
Heres a few more pics showing the exterior construction of grow room.I built it by myself in 12 hours...including electrical.

I think the room and results both look great, by ANY standards, and if you want to add efficiency, your next investment would be a light mover. Your 1000w HPS will be used more efficiently in that long space if it runs back and forth over the canopy during lights-on hours, and you will be able to get it closer if you like.
Wow!...thats exactly what is next.I'm getting fox farm grow big soil, and big bloom nutes .and a 6' light mover. They sell light movers on eebay pretty reasonable,Fox farm products too.Hopefully i'll have both by wensday:thumbsup:..I'm still a little leary about ordering big bags of soil to my house ...dunno why though, cause i sure as hell will order seeds:D and nutes:D...as far as grow room gose...i'm now installing a cold water line...basements are great places to grow...you have access to utilities, temps are easily regulated, and there are no prying eyes..My number #1 rule is NO PLANTS OUTSIDE,NOR IN OPEN VIEW..:thumbsup:STAY SAFE,SMOKE WELL!!

Just my personal suggestion... check out the Botanicare lineup for nutes. I find their Power Plant/Power Flower to be slightly cheaper and also IMO a slightly better product than FoxFarms, and the Pure Blend organic-based line is very reasonable for the quality.

No problems with the water crystals at all...I love them!!! my plants look so much healthier...they actually get water on demand now, instead of waiting til i can get there. Also i water much less now...and if the nutes are added they get fed constanly...i've done slight research on the crystals and they claim to be safe for ALL vegetation and food,(not all water crystals are for food plants/or food) they can be used season after season, indoors or out in a garden...You can flush them also...i think next time i'll mix them thouroghly throughout my soil:thumbsup:..a little gose a long way. (1)-$12.00 packet covered ( 9 )-3 gal pots..I'm still working on where to get soil that dosen't have bugs/bug eggs in it....May as well learn to mix my own....Mracle grow soil is ok for growing, but its got bugs and/or bug eggs that infest your grow area...I heard you can bake the soil to kill bugs/eggs ,but too much effort, and time for me...I would rather learn to mix my own soil.
Still checking out the nute/fertilizer formulas. There's a ton of brands out there to choose from.I gotta take a ride to the city this weekend, maybe i can find a hydrponics store.I never seen any in these parts...I need a good fertizer like A.N. products, but they are very expensive. They claim their products to be designed for cannibus cultivation (medical) I used to love thier forum,it was very informative also....more pics as soon as my light mover gets here:D...It makes more sense to buy a light mover, than buy a new light, and increase my utility bill:thumbsup:
