I have a question for those familiar with astral projection. Recently i had an projection where i came out in a different environment to where i was sleeping(and seemed to be flying around uncontrollably). The reason why this concerns me is because where I astral projected was in my old house and was where i recovering from psychosis. Because this was such a traumatic experiene i was wondering if this would be a permanent thing for me to be astral projecting in the same environment because (and I realise this may have no direct relation) I was worried that if I died I would be forever trapped in my room. This may not seem like a major concern and Im still young but wanted to tie up loose ends.

You shouldn't be scared of your astral ( or any) experiences, ...you should embrace them each, because they happen :) and always will.

try to see HOW this makes you grow ? Face the ideas and thoughts openly, without fear , and then you will see what they really mean to you

Well... i do astral projection while sleeping, and even if i couldnt induce a full wake-induced astral projection yet, i can differentiate usual dreams from the astral projections i have when sleeping. And very frequently when i project i notice im in the house i lived my entire childhood... which is, coincidentally, the house where i started to astral project. (I remember several "dreams" i had when as a child that now i recognize were in fact astral projections).
I dont know if it has any relation with what you mentioned... did you started to astral project in that house? Did you had some "unusual" experience there when recovering from psychosis? There must be some answer to it, even if we dont know it yet...
Anyway, i would not worry about it... if you ever die, even if your "spirit" go there, it wont be there for long, so you dont need to worry about being trapped there forever...
(Note that it doesnt mean you shouldnt worry about to where your "spirit" will go when you die, but its another subject...)

jesse is right... my guess is that you have some emotional/mental ties that your "subconscious" or something is trying to bring out and deal with... follow jesse's advice and face what is there... don't label, judge, or expect anything... just observe and let it play out. if you are flopping around the room uncontrollably just observe what it feels like.. notice the feelings that arise... just allow what is to be.

let us know how it goes...

dont worry about fearful things like dying or never "waking-up" from your experience... you will be fine... in fact you will be better off after facing this phenomena.

Usually astral projection (assuming that astral projection = OOBE) is a kind of lucid dream, where youre "dreaming" of the real world, so the things you see in an astral projection are the things that actually exists, what not happens with the lucid dreams, that are only dreams.

Whats the difference between astral projection and a lucid dream?

the answer to this would vary depending on whom you ask...

some believe that astral projection (AP) is one's consciousness "leaving" the body to travel in alternate dimensions (astral planes) or to places within this universe's physical dimensions. the key is that they believe in a separation of consciousness from the physical body. they would hold a difference between that and lucid dreaming (LD) with LD being an event happening all within one's own mind and simply being a dream that one has control over.

others believe that AP is not really traveling anywhere but is actually the person crossing over into the dream state without realizing it. it would be consciously entering a dream which would mean that the consciousness is not actually leaving the body but is simply on a voyage in one's own mind.

there is still yet another group that believes that all dreaming is actually AP. they believe that every night the human consciousness travels to the astral plane yet most are only aware of the "area" that the "dream sequence" is taking place in. some describe seeing people in the astral plane carrying out there dreams without realization that there is more surrounding them. these people support their position through events like shared dreaming where two separate individuals actually meet in a dream and can confirm details of the dream later while in a wakened state.

i have yet to be successful with my attempts at AP so i have not been able to make a judgment of my own on the issue.
