Hi guys. I want to give you a status report on a secret little projekt of mine... A closet grow with one Procyon 100. I am growing a single female plant. The strain I am not sure of, but it is regs.

Grow setup:
* 1 Procyon 100
* 11 gallons of solution using Lucas formula. GH nutes. I have not * added any other special nutrients.
* average outside temp is 78 degrees F.
* average reservoir temp varies between 65-73 degrees F.
* the reservoir is covered with white contact paper. the plastic is an opaque black color.
* Two 30 cfm fans, one intake, one exhaust
* two airstones connected to one rena air 200 air pump
* the growhatch is 2 ft x 3 ft x 5 ft.
* all walls are flat white.

I am on day 26 of flowering. The plant has grown to 23 inches in height. The hairs on the plant have been visible for 12 days. the plant continues to grow somewhat. it's pretty bushy and there are a lot of tops. no visible white crystals on the leaves though. is this normal? the hairs are growing everywhere. anyway, the plant has had a rough life. i have transplanted it three times. this is also my first grow. still, I don't think i've had a lot of issues. everything has gone pretty smoothly. check out the pics. is this little lady looking ok?

Looking good. Maybe a little slow on showing buds. Usuall within you have small buds starting. But it varies depending on strain too. All you've got right now ids the fan leaves. They don't usually have much crystal. Transplatting usually helps more than hurt if you're careful.

I hope it's some sort of hybrid. what's concerning me is that by now the plant should have stopped growing, I think. I want it to start spending all its energy on the buds, but that has not happened yet; the plant continues to grow.

I have not used any of the special Penetrator or Liquid Light nutrients people talk up on these boards. should I try that now, or is it too late? I just want to have a nice first grow. I mean I don't even know the dam strain lol.

There's a little heat.. bit it's pretty much negligible. When the light was set for 18/6, the temperature inside the hatch never rose to more than 82.. it's NEVER "hot." The Procyon, after running for hours, is just warm to the touch.

So far I have had zero temperature issues. One time I tried to place the light directly on top of the plant.. she began to droop, so I raised it back to 10 inches above the tops and the plant recovered shortly.

The light is pretty nice. I feel like I'm checking the plant's temperature and the reservior's ph/temperature way too often though.. Guess that's typical for a first-time grower. No?

I was pretty lucky to get the light. After seeing the early success SnS had, I decided to run my own little experiment.. and here we are today.

alright. I picked up a better thermometer. The room temp with the lights on is 78. Humidity is 55. The nighttime temp is 75 with a humidity of 58.. She has grown another inch since the 26th..

maybe she is a large portion sativa. The leaves look a tad long in the fingers. That would explain the continual upwards growth and possibly a slow start to the flowering. Looks healthy though. I use liquid light, and love it, but don't see how it would move that girl along any faster. She looks a lot better than my first time!:thumbsup:

Okay, so it's day 32 of flowering and she is 28.5 inches tall now. I think she wants to take over my house or something. Not sure why she's growing like crazy, but she's really hairy and she stinks.
There are hairs growing everywhere, even on the bottom branches.

Still, she has grown 5.5 inches in the last 7 days.. is this normal? I'm confused about her growing this much, but I guess sativas stretch and it has already been suggested here that she's probably more sativa than indica..

All the rest of her readings (outdoor temp, root zone temp, ph, humidity) look just fine. She just keeps getting huge.

I'm posting some pics of her now. Guys, please give me any suggestions or tell me how she's looking.

It definitely looks like a sativa dominate strain so it may get pretty tall. You might have to lst to keep it low depending on your room.Looking good.

If it is a sativa (looks like it), vertical growth even in flower is not unusual, even that late.
But the possibility of a light leak, or that your timer may be set to less than 12 hours darkness accidentally, is there. So check on that, and if everyhting appears normal, it's probably just the genetics. the plant looks healthy.

your plant looks good...i would say its heavily sativa if not all sativa...especially since you said its regs....LONG flowering times with those mexi sativas...ask daiashi....
check for light leaks like stinky said...and i would keep the light 12-18 in...other than that...looks like you got everything under control...

All right. So on day 39 she is 35 inches tall. She's got hairs all over her too. She's growing way too much. Should I like, LST her or something? I don't think it's a good idea to stress her like that this late into the flowering period, but maybe I'm wrong. she's just like, ridiculously huge now. hehe. this waiting period is killing me.

i don't see a light leak. I was worried about that, but she hasn't stopped flowering. in fact, the little buds are starting to become more compact now so I think she's flowering ok, I just want her to stop getting bigger :-/

All right. Day 44 of flowering.. I transplanted her and changed the reservoir using GH nutes at 3/4 strength, but she got beat up a little while I was doing that. She has recovered nicely since then though.

I am posting some color pics of this lady and some shots of her little buds. On the left is a bag of damp-rid I picked up to lower the humidity, which is usually around 55-59%. I really hope she's not still growing. how could I lst this plant now?

gradually bend the branches over a few inches a day...but if its bendy enough, which it looks like it is...definitely mexi-sativa IMO...it probably can bend alot the first day...just be careful...that strains also gonna flower a LONG time man...so dig your feet in...:thumbsup:

Actually Ive never grow anything before. I'm a total newbie to all this; but I think a light like this one simplifies the process. I have no clue what an MH bulb is capable of.

lol, i was gonna tell ya it looked like a sativa but i see several people have already told you

and like Whiskey already said, if it is a sativa, it can flower for like 12 weeks!

anyway, i learned a little LST technique from jangel, what you do is hang weights on the branchs, like xmas tree ornaments, just be careful not to make them so heavy they break the branchs

what i did was take some small lead fishing weights and tie twisty tie's to them so i can just dangle them on any offending branch or fan leaf (you can use old nuts and bolts, lol, hell, you could use earrings)

anyway, awesome job for a first grow, i look forward to hearing about your yield and how it smoked

All right. Posting up some more pics. She's looking ok I think and she's only grown one inch in the last seven days, so I think she's grown as much as she's going to grow.. she's pretty close to the procyon right now, but she hasn't reacted poorly at all to it so I haven't moved her.

Her buds are coming out a little more now. All of her hairs are still very very white. She smells too. I have to do something about the smell.

How long do you guys think this girl still has before I can harvest her? any estimates? I am thinking maybe another 30 days, but I'm not entirely sure.. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks for all the help guys.

SnS, did you say in your first LED grow that these girls don't smell as bad as they do under normal MH or HID lights? i think she totally reaks, but maybe it's because I've never smelled this type of plant before. I haven't finished building my bucket fan/charcoal invention for odor control yet and I'm starting to freak. lol.

lookin good rightway...I think its just your strain...I had strain issues the first LED grow i did...and now i am growing heavy indicas and heavy sativas....and a few hybrids...so by the end of this one, Im pretty sure we will nail what strain the lights like....already seems more to the indica side....but Im gonna SCROG 2 SNLxNH (mostly sativas) to test that theory...
id say you definitely got about 5-7 weeks left too...patience my young padawan....let it go all the way, and you'll be happy...

OK guys--I took some more pictures. the plant was transplanted again and took a little beating, but i think she'll be ok.so now there's this crazy idea that's itching in the back of my mind, and I wanted some opinions from you all. here's the idea:There are quite a few little buds coming out on the bottom of the plant, where the light penetration is much thinner. I want to know if it would maybe increase the yield to trim some of the fan leaves that are decreasing the amount of light that reaches the bottom of the plant.I've uploaded the pictures and painted a circle over the leaves I would be chopping off. measured her tallest cola today.. 39 inches in height.the temp is at 76. ph 6. res temp is 73. everything looks ok except...

also I would not harvest untill all the hairs turn brown and the trich have turned milky white and or amber.


I have grown a good amount of sativas in my time and yes they do seem to alwase take for ever to finish flowering. but I think its all worth it in the end.
and most of all buds I have grown, grew there bigest in the last 2-3 weeks of flowering.

and I love the hight of the sativa a bit more than what the indica gives off.

Lookin great, WOW 90days into flower. Has the humidity caused any probs. It seems you had a pretty smooth grow(no talk of problems in thread). I don't understand why you had to transplant in hydro. Hey everyone. Posting latest pics. I'm going to change the nutes to just plain water, let her sit for two weeks, and then harvest.
She has been filling out a little bit it seems the last few weeks. I am very happy with how she looks especially considering this is an LED light, not a HPS or MH.. i just want to save on electricity and cooling costs/noise..
To answer an earlier question, i don't seem to be running into any humidity trouble.. (knock on wood)
This girl had to be transplanted because there were a a dude growing in the same pot before.. I stupidly tried to clump them together in the same pot while they were still young, but then I was too lazy to pull the dude out until I knew for sure it was a male.
Any comments? Suggestions? Any neat tricks to increase the THC level in the last two weeks? I hope i'm not making any major mistakes here, but please feel free to let me knwo if i'm doing something incorrect! this has been an awesome experiment. thanks for the advice everyone--i really just hope she smokes ok. time to light up. :rastasmoke:

Just found this threat and damn fine job you did for a first grow!!! I am also excited to see the procyon work so well. Since this is your first grow and it is more of an experiment anyway, you might want to try harvesting a little at a time as the buds mature. Take the top buds first then let the bottom buds ripen up for another week or two or three whatever it takes. Just a suggestion though. Looking good!!!

ahh! so i did what you guys said and checked out the trichs using a microscope. looked at the tops, the very top of them have moslty clear trichs. as i continued to look farther dwn the colas the trichs turned more and more milky.

around the middle of the plant there were more clusters of amber-headed trichs.

because i am kind of in a stealth situation at the moment, i think i'm gonna chop her up tomorrow. i can't chop only some of her off--it has to be all of her or none of her:(

if any of you guys think this is a totally bad move, please let me know. but the biggest parts of the biggest colas (not including the very tops) right now have milky trichs. i think this means i have to pull the trigger because of the situation im in.

thanks for all the help guys and i'd appreciate any additional tips or comments. ill continue posting throughout to give you guys accurate yield numbers once it's all dried out.

i think i could have done this better as i made some stupid mistakes, but woreking with an unknown strain as a noob prolly didn't help my yield lol. anyway im just looking for some good smoke so yield isn't THAT concerning to me :rastasmoke:

Sativas are difficult indoors no matter what.
Yours are showing a symptom that could be heat, light leaks, N overfert, insufficient air flow, or a combination.
However, you have achieved your first harvest, so congratulations.
Harvest when you no longer see clear trichs, if time is an issue. IMHO, that's the very earliest to chop when you are in a time crunch. Clear trichs are going to give you too much raciness and a crash, especially with a sat.
Buddabusa... wtf man... lol 60 days on a sat? Please be certain your advice is correct if you're going to be giving it so confidently....

Hey everyone. I know i'm bringing this thread back from the dead but I never got to post my final pics or anything.

I figured I could add to the growing body of LED research by posting my results.

The tree yielded 2 ounces after it was all said and done.

This didn't seem like much, but the quality of the herb, especially considering the tree grew from a crappy reg seed, was remarkable. And it did NOT stink. Strangely, it smelled sort of sweet, and it burned extremely smoothly. I can't say I've had weed like it before, at least not weed that tasted so good.

It was very potent, a very sativa-like headrush type high, and I smoked all of it in a couple of months. Still, despite the relatively low yield, I think the experiment was a resounding success.

Some of the mistakes I know I made:

1. Planting a sativa tree indoors was pretty tough to manage in my small cabinet.

2. I did not have NEARLY enough airflow.

3. I had some root rot in my grow, and I transplanted this tree from soil to hydro about 20 days into its veg stage. I doubt that helped.

4. I dropped the plant on its side once while changing the water. Oops.

5. I didn't change the water frequently enough, and my PH levels were pretty bad for a couple of the water changes I did perform.

6. I didn't finish painting my growcabinet all white; I pretty much half-assed it. Laziness :-/

7. Not knowing which specific strain I was growing really screwed me up when it comes to having an ideal nutrient recipe.

I'm posting pics of the herb that was harvested. It really looked weird, but it smoked amazingly.
