We did a few slight modifications to the theater room this weekend. The main project was hoisting a new projector up to the ceiling.

This beast is a fully modded Electrohome Marquee 9500LC Ultra, and weighs about 180lbs. Modifications include HDMI card for full 1080p resolution, power supply regulator, fan noise reduction, lenses, ACON adjuster, and a custom fiberglass case.

We rented a drywall lift, which was only rated for about 150lbs max. After taking the three 12lb lenses off, we figured we should be closes to 150 lbs. The lift wasnt happy, but it held up with a little support from a ladder on one side. Its attached to the ceiling with a 2x6 thats secured to the studs with four 4-inch lag bolts.

We also added a new Integra DTC-9.8 Preamplifier/Processor.

Room Specs:
102" screen
7 B&W Speakers
Dual Sunfire powered subs
Custom reclining theater seats

Rack Contents:
PS3 for BLU-RAY
Yamaha DVD Player (replaced with PS3)
Monster Power
DWIN Scaler (replaced with PS3/Pre-Pro)
New Integra DTC-9.8
Outlaw Amp

We havent set the convergence or the geometry fully yet, but the color looks incredible so far. I cant wait to get it fully set up in a couple weekends. This is the same model projector that the military uses in its flight training simulators, and is one of the highest rated in the world. The MSRP is around $50,000 (of course I didnt pay that...)

Thoughts? :rastasmoke:

Great setup.

Does the Outlaw amp power the surround and center speakers as well as the main ones?

You financing this whole thing for yourself? Cause thats epic indeed man.

I saw some awesome thin woofers that youre meant to slip under your sofa so you can get a rumbling sensation from the bass of explosions and what not

Yeah, well this is about generation 4 of my home theater project. It started as a projector that I hung with chains from the ceiling of my living room. I had a pulldown screen and some bose 5.1 speakers. Once I was able to have a dedicated room things just started to grow. I havent really majorly upgraded anything for a few years now (except speakers).

This latest round of upgrades probably set me back about $10,000 for the projector, preamp, PS3, cables, and other misc parts. I guess thats alot of money, but this should hold me for now... :smokin:

I get plenty of seat shaking from my sub as it is. Welcome to Sunfire.com (http://www.sunfire.com/subwoofers.htm) Thatd be cool to put in my bedroom though..

Hey man, a permanently-installed home theater is something that will increase your home's value to a specific type of buyer, so hey, rock on. I see something like that as a more reasonable investment than say, a large but portable home entertainment system that goes into scheduled obsolescence within a couple years, lol!

This is a pretty amazing setup! Do you have enough clearance behind the seats and to the side for the rear and surround speakers? They seem kind of close for getting the "geometry " right. All in all it looks like some really good equipment!

Thanks! Yeah, there is some room between the rears and the seats. Its far from optimal, but with that room size its all I can do.

Here are some hi-res pics of the speakers, since you cant really see them..
