I am new to this forum, and have gone abit more "off the beaten path" lately with my thinking.. I am reading the following book, pick it up from your library as I have no financial interest in it. Looking into non-GMO food and at first I was shocked, appalled, and terrified of what they are doing and what "our" government has been propogating.

Called Seeds of Deception. Here is a link to it through google books: Seeds of Deception: Exposing ... - Google Book Search (http://books.google.com/books?id=it9HIOQ59bkC&q=seeds+of+deception&dq=seeds+of+deception&pgis=1)

Decided to post this after reading some of the other threads in this sub-forum and talking with a buddy of mine from Great Britain. He confirmed that there was a big outcry over it and that makes me want to believe this book.

Now, I have read several different things about genetically modified food, in addition to what this book says (not finished yet) it doesn't sound pretty at all.

Don't want to debate the current Iraq situation, but for instance, according to Article 81 (or something like that) we took their 8,000 year old wheat seeds from a seed bank, and gave them genetially modified seeds.. Argentina is another example where we totally changed their complete nation from self sufficient to who knows what.

There is also some suggestion that this could also be leading to the sudden and drastic decline in the bee population in the U.S.

Do not remember hearing much about GMO foods in the media at all, and we are fed it every day. Alot of presidents (not just GWB) have touted genetically modified seeds as the FDA is infected by industry officials but there is no true scientific evidence to back up any of their claims. It's all watered down research with inaccurate test conditions.

What are your thoughts on this. Could it be just another experiment to cull out people, or deepen the pockets of certain companies (namely pharmaceutical and bio-tech).

IMVHO, this makes the tobacco companies look like prophets (no offense to anyone I hope).

Yeah I've been reading about it too. I've always believed you should not interfere with nature like that, bad shit is bound to happen. Its really sad what our government will do to make more money.

The worst thing about the "genetically modified" wheat is the addition of extra-strong gluten - which is, as the name implies, "gluey". Four years ago, I was very ill until I discovered that I had Celiac Disease - which is an autoimmune disorder caused by ingestion of gluten. Gluten was never meant for human consumption, and is wreaking havoc on the health of the human race. Another culprit is cow's milk, which contains casein, another gluey substance. Soy and corn are also bad for most people. Autoimmune diseases, autism, senility, and hundreds of other illnesses are on the rise and it's largely due to our diets.

I recommend the book "Dangerous Grains", by James Braley, M.D. and Ron Hoggan.

I've actually read this book. Good read and really makes you think about what's out there. :hippy:

I know our nation's corn is very definitely genetically modified. It's been altered so it'll be a hardier, easier-to-grow, less water-thirsty plant that grows kernels with a much bigger endosperm (starch) layer because much of it is grown for the production of high-fructose corn syrup.

I'd like to read that Seeds of Deception book before I form a conclusion about whether there's sinister intent. Right now, I'm not informed enough to give an opinion, but my inclination is to encourage folks not to immediately jump to the most scary conclusion that suggests "this is our government trying to cull us or line the pockets of certain companies." I expect biotech companies have profited from genetic modifications of seeds, but I also think that those changes have probably been fairly benign, functional improvements in plenty of cases. For instance, I'm not a fan of high-fructose corn syrup, but the modifications that have been made to corn and other grains have likely helped them to be more bug- and disease-resistant, to require less water, and to be able to thrive in more crowded conditions so the harvest is greater from a smaller plot of land.

The same sorts of genetic modification possibilities exist in medicine, too, and not all of them spell sinister government-driven attempts to purify our population. I'm sure there are already people who'll need to be peeled off the ceiling just thinking about this concept as it applies to medicine, and certainly genetic modifications of human genes present ethical questions. But if someone could modify my genes, as they do with grains or fruits or even cannabis strains, to make me stronger, more disease resistant, and healthier and more productive, then I want to be the first in line. I'd have them tweak my early-graying gene, too, so I wouldn't have to spend so much money at the hairdresser's.

I'm admittedly strange and somewhat gullible, though, and a lot more suspicious of other things before government. I'd be the first in line to buy irradiated food, too. It'd be cleaner and more safe from bacterial contamination like e-coli and salmonella, and it wouldn't make us glow in the dark, contrary to paranoiac social folklore.

i downloaded a torrent and watched the video and have the book in pdf form. its digusting learning about this stuff

most all europe banned gm foods, mcdonalds and other fastfood chains have 2 different formulas of food

manatoba says the round up gene found in the canola produced my them(which also produced ddt, and agent orange and said they were safe for humans) cannot be introduced to our bodies, but scientist have found that the gene can be transfered and contaminate our bodies through gut bacterium. and once the gene pool is contaminated theres no turning back. you cant. canola, cotton seed, soy and 1 more. scientist have found that when the gm foods were first introduced into the countries as a whole, allergens and cancers rose by %50 in 1 year, the eu saw this and banned it,

why is it under the conspiracy forum, it should be under current events, as this portains to billions of people

That is so true w/ milk everyone loves a glass of milk with there cookies. The truth of it is we are the only species that drinks another species milk....

Yes we will give a cat milk but they would not get it w/ out a human.

90 percent of China is lactose intolerant. I figure they been around the longest...

Good reading something different..
