First of all... this is the most informative site on the net. To all you big wig contributors out there, please, keep it up. You are doing a worldly service and deserve much respect. Anyway...

Is Rust-Oleum Flat Protective Enamel pretty much the 'flat white' you look for when painting inside of a box? Just that I have some laying around. Also, it says that I need a full 24 hours to dry. Any advice as to what to do with my precious babies until the dry is complete? They are only 2-3" as of now. I could surround them with ample, unboxed, light for the night. Would the amount of light lost from an open space (i.e. under desk, closet floor, etc.) be enough to stress them out or create potential for future growth problems? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Time for more reading... I've been cramming my brain with the FAQ's and Sticky's like it's my job.

nahhh, Rust-Oleum is an enamel (overkill) ... slower-drying, noxious thinners, and expensive to boot ... just go to any hardware store, K-Mart, etc, get ya a can of 'Flat White Latex Paint' ... sometimes, if you don't see it on the shelf, it will be the same as the 'Base White' (they usually add coloring to it, to make whatever shade ya want) ... latex paint is non-toxic, fast-drying, no hazardous fumes, cleans up with soap and water, but is still fairly waterproof (if you really expect wet conditions, get the 'Outdoor' version ... oh, I forgot, latex paint is also CHEAP

You just saved me a can of paint and a potentially noxious cab. Flat white looks so clean and sterile. Metallic reflection always makes me think of a baked potato. I don't want to bake my buddha. I want my buddha to bake me. Mmmm... potatoes... mmm.. baking.... mmm baked potatoes. :stoned:

I totally agree that a latex paint in a cabinet is less likely to out-gas noxious fumes a la the dreaded 'hydrohut syndrome' lol.
That being said, for anyone who has plenty of time to let paint dry, in a basement grow area especially, KILZ oil based primer would be my top choice for an environment that is likely to be damp. It's fungicidal too last time I checked.

Got some flat white... slapped 3 cans inside.... yeeeeesh! Looks like you could perform surgery in there now. Anyone have long term damage caused by repeated blinding when opening cabinet? Haha :stoned::thumbsup:
